“Thick crust pizza - takes a while so be prepared”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

I was looking for pizza close to Durango Mtn Resort and this place came up. Luckily I saw a review that said pizza could take an hour so we called in advance for take out pizzas. They were ready when we got there and steaming hot. The pizzas are very thick crust so if you like thin crust this might not be for you. They were very friendly and the inside looked like a fun local hangout although we did not eat in. Highly recommend for takeout if you are in the DMR area. It was a bit pricey - $57 for 2 large 2 item pizzas and one small cheese.

“Maybe not your kind of place, and that is fine”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

If you want a homogenized family dinner or are in the mood for a Pizza Hut Supreme pizza, don’t bother stopping. The Olde Schoolhouse Café is not homogenized and it is not for everyone. And that is fine. The owners are exceptionally nice, the patrons are reasonably well behaved, the pool is free (until you commit one of the fee-based infractions), and they serve excellent local beers on tap. And the pizza is outstanding. The only drawback is the wait time – so call ahead or be prepared for a 1 hour wait. We have called from the slopes several times while making our last run. We and the pizza arrive at approximately the same time: 1 hr later. Overall, it can be a little intimidating, but if you are willing to commit to this rather unconventional, rather dilapidated Schoolhouse, you will not leave disappointed.

“Greasy!”
Reviewed July 13, 2012 via mobile

We heard from friends that live in the area that this was a great pizza place with sketchy service. They were correct about the service. They were unwilling to discuss the menu and spoke rudelly on the phone. I had heard that it is a long wait for the pizza so we were prepared for that. If you want to try it, you should definitely call in your order and then go. The pizza was just ok. My sister hated it but she is harder to please. It was very greasy!!!!!!

“PIzza and Chicken wings are good!”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

We had a significant wait the last time we went, but after being cold and wet camping, we were just happy to be inside and dry! We didn't mind the wait. We had plenty of reading material on the walls. They make every pizza from scratch, so it takes them some time. Good value for the money!
