Description: Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen is a contemporary American bistro with a southwestern flair. Fresh salads, creative small plates, artisanal pizzas, and fire-roasted steaks, chicken and seafood are prepared in twin 600+ degree stone hearth ovens in an open kitchen. The Owners have restored the interior of the historic Century Building on Main Avenue, revealing turn-of-the century Carnegie steel support beams, the original maple hardwood floor and decorative tin ceiling tiles, and the original brick wall. These historical elements, along with the expo kitchen, rollup windows, and 35-foot curved bar, create an urban industrial loft setting for a unique Durango dining experience.

We have been there several times for Happy Hour and dinner. The food is unique and very tastey but the wines are too steep for us. The happy hour offerings are scimpy and the HH wine 2nd rate. Overall the price point may be ok for visitors but too much for regulars and retirees.

Extra class with superb menu - nothing premade - it all happens right as you order. Don't be afraid of the prices, the portions are generous...we had soup, salad and shared a sandwich for under $30. Never knew Rutabaga Soup was so tasty!

Chimayo has a very unique menu. Not to big but something for everyone. Ceviche is served in a martini glass, the warm olives and baguette are great apps. The Stone fired pizzas are great, delicious meatballs served on top of cheese polenta. A chicken and date salad that's awesome! There are small plate options and large for those who have a heftier appetite. The bar is very relaxing and the entire restaurant has a comfortable feeling. In the warmer months the glass windows in front open for an open air dining experience.

This is one of the best restaurants in Durango. The decor is warm and inviting, the service is friendly and attentive, and the food is out of this world. Who knew Mac'N'Cheese could be so divine? Well, when you add bacon and poblano peppers along with Gouda Cheese it is ! The owners are so creative with their menu, mixing flavors and aromas way out of the ordinary. The portion was so generous that I had to ask for a to-go box. And the Creme Brulee - truly the best I have had in Durango. It is a "MUST TASTE" experience if you are lucky enough to be in Durango.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Professional and unhurried service- our waitress was awesome, super friendly and so good with our toddler daughter. Food was delicious and reasonably priced for a tourist center like Durango. Lovely evening, lively atmosphere!
