“Terrific Beef & Cheese”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Worth the visit to stock up our motor coach freezer. Delicious ground beef and mature Belford cheese are just so yummy! Very knowledgeable personable staff. We kept missing the eggs though, sold out before we could get there each morning!! And the burgers cooking there smelled amazing!! Will definitely shop there each time we are in town!!!

“a hidden treasure just north of durango”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

the james ranch is situated about 10 miles north of durango just off the road to silverton. it is obviously a working ranch that sells meat, cheese, and vegetables, as well as sandwiches. with a wife from omaha, we are enjoying the steaks which are far superior to those we get in arizona. and the cheese; let me tell you, it is delicious. they call it belford and it comes in three or four varieties. the dryer, harder one is excellent shredded in salads or over pasta.
driving home the next day, we inquired where we could purchase an ice chest. instead of just directions, mr james provided a sturdy one which served the purpose well.
if you drive from durango to silverton, or just want an outing, james ranch is a good place to go.

“Wow! What a great find!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

If you want to have the most yummy burger and scrumptious salad...outside in a beautiful setting overlooking a beautiful ranch outside of Durango...where all the food is grown and grazed right on the ranch....James Ranch is the place!! Wow. We were in Durango two nights and ate there both nights. Durango has some amazing restaurants, but this is an experience not to be missed. They also have a great market! Plus they are dog friendly! yea.

“Excellent farm tour and delicious food”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

We did the farm tour today. Jen is an excellent speaker and obviously loves her home. It was a very interesting tour. Slightly more geared to adults than children although our kids enjoyed the tractor ride and seeing pigs and meeting polka and dot the goats! At the harvest grill the kids had itty bitty burgers and we had the grilled cheese sandwich all delicious. Looking forward to going back Thursday evening for music and burgers.

“Highlight meal of my trip!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

James Ranch is a beautiful family owned operation about 1/3 out of Durango towards Silverton. I had seen their farmstand at the Durango Farmer's Market, and they were near where I was staying, so I decided to try them for lunch. Yea me, good call! The Signature Burger features their own grass fed beef, caramelized onions, their own ranch made cheese, and a delicious rosemary mayo. While you wait for your burger to be cooked, you can visit with the resident goats-Polka let me scratch his ears for quite a while! Choose a shady place to sit, there are many picnic tables to choose from. After you enjoy the amazing burger, take time to do the self guided ranch tour and check out what a well run and environmentally sound operation they have going. If you have a kitchen, the onsite market has their meats, cheese, organic produce, and other goodies to take away. Love the James Ranch, wish I could eat there again soon!
