This was an amazing rafting trip which started at 8AM walking from Mountain Waters Rafting in the Albertson's parking lot over to the Durango Silverton Train Station about 1 block away on July 4th 2016. Our guides Tarek, John, and Elliott had our tickets and the rafts already loaded on the train. There was a concession rail car on the train but we did not bring our wallets with us. We took the train up to our drop off point with perfect weather. Once we arrived, we hung out on the Animas River Bank while the guides rigged the boats which took 30 minutes. Then, we suited up in our wetsuits, loaded the boats with our backpacks and change of clothes, and headed down the rapids. Warning: The persons who sit in the front get splashed the most. I felt paddling was minimal with the guides steering and we only had to paddle continuously for 1-2 minutes max. Although I was sore the next day in my forearms, I felt like I could do the Class V rapids easily. We hit up Broken Bridge Rapids, Lunch Gorge, Dinner Gorge and many others along the way. We exited the river, unsuited, and waiting for the guides to de-rig the boats which was another 30-40 minutes. That is when it started raining and it was cold. Good thing we had rain jackets. We jumped back on the train for a short 40 min ride to another drop off point in which we took a van back to Durango arriving around 6:30pm. The train ride was scenic, the rafting was spectacular, and the passion from the guides made the trip a very memorable experience. Worth every penny.

World class rafting on the Upper Animas, "scenic, spectacular, and very memorable." The only raft trip in the world utilizing an 1881 steam engine train to get to the river which runs along Colorado's largest Wilderness. It doesn't get any better, come join us this summer on a Colorado Classic. Thank you for the review!

Despite being freezing cold and apparently the hardest rain anyone had ever rafted in, we still had a fantastic time. The guides are awesome and make it fun for everyone! The lower run is pretty tame and easy going but still an experience. We can't wait to come back to experience the upper Animas next!

That was two days of real rain out of our average of 27 for the year. Makes for a special experience. Local Tip: go on a raft or 4x4 trip with us in the morning for the best chance of avoiding any weather. Thanks for the review!

The experience was just incredible! After checking in, we had a short wait and then were escorted to a bus. It was a quick bus ride, the guides introduced themselves, and we were at our destination. We were all assigned guides and boats and set sail. Our tour guide, Dillon, was extremely friendly and gave us an excellent experience. The rapids were fun, and especially great if it was your first time. The views in Durango are just breathtaking, so there was plenty to look at when the water was calm. It was definitely one of the best times we had on our whole trip! If your a thrill seeker, I highly recommend this.

We had a great time on our rafting trip. At one point in the river where the Rapids are too big, our guide Byron pulled the raft to the shore and the staff walked the kids passed the rough Rapids as we had our fun. I would recommend this company highly. Byron and Bama were great.

The high water that you experienced is ebbing and we are not walking people around the white water park unless requested. So that means it is DUCKY season! Our fleet of inflatable kayaks are for those wanting more adventure on the family friendly raft trip paddling their own craft along with our normal raft trips. You get specialized instruction, a helmet and renting a wetsuit is a good idea and away we go, follow mama Duck and hold on!
