Owner description: Hop aboard a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that travels along the same railroad tracks that miners, cowboys and the early settlers of the Old West used over a hundred years ago. The route winds in and out of canyons and past open wilderness affording great views. The price of a ticket also includes admission to the D&SNGRR Museum and the Silverton Freight Yard Museum.

We experienced the Polar Express in Durango and it was the most awesome train ride ever. Upgrade to at least the Prospector car for a magical journey to the North Pole. You will believe...

Samuel Peeps said unquote "if you don't love London you don't love life".

Well in Durango if you don't love the Durango and Silverton Railroad you don't love life.

This is on the top of every child's list and a must for any railroad lover.

The Museum is what I have done recently. The roundhouse and the museum are in the same area. The fee for the museum is very modest, about $5.00.

The last time I road the train was several years ago. My wife road it last summer.

We included a trip on the Durango and Silverton railroad as part of a visit to Colorado. This was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend. Don't worry if you forget to take sunglasses for looking out of the carriage window because you can purchase these very cheaply on the train...for stopping coal bits getting in your eyes!!

What an amazing experience. We have a four year old who is obsessed with trains and the polar express and this was the PERFECT trip for him and us! From before the train pulled up to after the moment we got off of the train, we could not wipe the smile off of our son's face. We will come back every year!

We found Durango because our grandson loves trains. We have ridden the train several times and always enjoy the ride to Silver ton. It is a very scenic ride. We rode the prospector car which is more comfortable. They have adult only cars as well.
