We stopped here while traveling through Colorado for lunch. It is a deli as well as a really nice restaruant. I had the meatball sandwich. It is not the customary beef chunks in a bun with red sauce. This is great bread with meatballs wrapped in cheese with a light sauce. Very tasty, and too big for me to eat. The side item was tomatoes with cheese - forget the name. Another light tasty addition.
My wife had the mussels and said they were some of the best she had ever eaten.
If we weren't traveling we would have returned for dinner.
The deli had a wide assortment of meats & cheeses and well as custom pasta. We purchased an Irish oatmeal - and used it this moring. Very good and only takes 5 minutes to make, not like other steel cut varieties that take a half hour.
The restaurant has white table clothes and attentive wait staff. When one ( not our person) saw me struggling a bit with cutting my bread, he gave me a steak knife. Service, friendliness and an elegance not usual in a blace that has deli on the sign.
We would return here again.

We were on our way back from California, traveling to Colorado and stayed overnight in Durango. We decided to eat dinner at Guido's. It appeared to be primarily a deli, but there were several tables inside and on the patio in front. There was no hostess, but there was a sign that said "seat yourself". We did and then began noticing several unbused tables. Our waiter took about 6 or 7 minutes before he greated us and gave us menus and a wine list. It took another 6 or 7 minutes before he took our drink orders and we gave him our entire order (wine, appetizer and main courses) since we did not expect to see him again any time soon. He said that they were short staffed and that service was going to be a little slow. Our wine showed up pretty quickly and that was the end of the service. We noticed two other tables served by the waiter walk out. Interestingly, the waitress working at the same time seemed to have no problem getting her tables served. A couple and their son sat down at a table next to us AFTER we received our wine and they were served an appetizer and their main courses before we had ANY food served to us. That was the last straw - after 45 minutes of no food and being ignored we asked for the check, paid for the wine and headed done the road to another restaurant.
I have no idea how the food tasted, but I doubt it was worth the wait. If you decide to go to Guido's make sure it isn't too crowded.

We ate outside which was very pleasant. We started with the arugula salad that was very flavorful and then had the eggplant parmesean, also excellent.

We went to this restaurant after returning on the train from Silverton. The atmosphere is part deli, part corner italian grocery, part restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. One didn't know they had cannolies on the menu. The taste of the food was average to good. The portion size of the ravioli was very small for $13. Both the alfredo and shrimp w/ linguini was very good and the portion size was good. The lasagna is not a traditional recipe. It did not have the traditional marinara sauce. Instead it had a béchamel sauce that was very good. For dessert, we had the cannolies. They were the traditional cream filled cannoli and had ground pistachios on the ends. They also had a candied orange peel taste to it. The orange taste was over-the-top and was a little strong. We didn't care for them and would not order them again. Overall, we recommend this restaurant and would return to try other items on the menu.
