We went looking for some atmosphere and a nice, but reasonably priced dinner. We found it here at the Diamond Belle Saloon. We went in and found it to be very small, but it smelled devine so we decided to put our name on the list. The hostess was very friendly and informative and told us we could wait right there or go next door and she would come get us from the Strater Hotel lobby which shares ownership with the restaurant. The wait was a bit long 45min. but the concierge at the Strater told us the food was good and the atmosphere was great so we decided to wait it out. A gentleman from the Strater hotel who would come and check on the Concierge spoke with us and told us we must be there for the $5 burger night and that is why it was so busy. Turns out, there was a staged gun fight scheduled for 7pm and he told us that always draws a crowd also. True to her word, the hostess came and got the 3 families infront of us, then finally,it was our turn, we were seated about 10 min. before the staged gunfight. We were taken upstairs to the small deck on top. It had room for about 6 tables. The waitress promptly took our orders for drinks and the small gun fight down at the bar began. My eldest teen took video of the "drama" with her phone. The fight escalated out into the street. There the vision was poor, but the waitress stepped right in again and I asked her about the $5 burgers and she said yes, it's tonight, so we all ate rather cheaply $5 burgers that came with fries. Their normal burgers start at around $9.00 and go to $12.00, we got our choice of cheese and they were amazing, hand formed meat, thick, juicy, and loaded with tomatoe, lettuce, purple onion, pickles. Best $5.00 burgers ever, they were ordered upstairs on a computer and 15 min. later delivered by the gentleman from the downstairs kitchen. The waitress and the waiter were dressed in 1800's attire, as was the gun fighters, bar keep and the piano player. The whole place brought you back to the wild west days. Where else can you go for dinner and a little "show" and the bill for 4 people is $35??? Well worth the wait, remember wednesday burger night, you gotta ask, it was no where to be seen on the menu, or on the table. Loved it, plenty of food and we would come back if we find ourselves back in Durango, Co.
