My husband and I made arrangements to go rafting on a beautiful Saturday morning. This was our first experience so we were a little apprehensive. We met our guide Zac and Jesse who would drive us to the unloading spot and take some fun pics of us while we went down the Animas River. The guys were great especially Zac who gave us info as we floated down the river. It wasn't a heart pounding we're going to fly out of this rubber thingy. Just an enjoyable float with a few rapids that got us nice and wet and cold!! But the with the sun shining down we dried quickly and retur to our landing area to ride back to the shop. Our thanks to Jesse, JD and especially Zac for a wicked good time. Jim and Carlene

Took our two kids ages 10 & 13.
Late in season, temp 63. Wet suits were great- you NEED them in order to not freeze. Guides were nice- younger guys who live their job... Rafted lower Animas River. I have to say it was so mild that it was a bit of a disappointment. But, given it was our first time rafting, it was a safe choice.

We are sorry you were disappointed in the adventure of the Lower Animas River. It is a mild river as we promote. If you are looking for more adventure, best bet is to come in June when the snow is melting and try the San Miguel River or the Upper Box of the Piedra River. We are disappointed to only get 3 stars. Is there something we could have done with what we can control to make the trip better?

We are from Iowa and had a group of 6. Our ages ranged from 13 - 71 and we all agreed that this was the best part of our Colorado trip. We took a shuttle bus from Durango to Silverton and rode the jeep there. We caught the train from Silverton back to Durango and we all had a great day. Our guide, Brent was the best! He was very knowledgeable and he seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. I will definitely recommend it to other people who I know are visiting Colorado. It is a must do!

This was the highlight of our trip. Phil was our guide and he was great! He loved the area and it showed. He was very knowledgeable and he seemed to enjoy this trip just as much as we were enjoying it. He said it never gets old to him. This was a great way to experience the beauty of the mountains up close. We saw wildlife, waterfalls, cabins, avalanche paths, etc. all the way to the top. This trip is a must and we would highly recommend this to anyone. I am very afraid of drop-offs and edges of high places, but I was never afraid on this tour, so if you are in doubt, don't back out. You will miss out on a great trip!
