289 reviewers - make that 290 - can't be too far off. We have stayed at B&B's all over the country and Country Sunshine is one of the very best. Our 3 day stay went far too quickly. The service started with my reservation when Jodi explained that we could get the Durango to Silverton railroad to pick us up at a stop near the B&B saving a lot of time and allowing us to not miss one of Walter's exceptional breakfasts. The rooms are clean and spacious and the B&B has several very comfortable common areas. Fresh baked cookies are always available. The deck is a wonderful place to eat or just sit when the weather is good. Water, wine, and beer are available for guests. Did I mention Walter's exceptional cooking? Well it doesn't stop with breakfast. Each evening, he prepares a special desert. An attached photo shows the presentation of one of his cream puffs. And on the night before we left, Walter put on a show with bananas foster.

Our stay here was truly wonderful. The breakfast was amazing out on the deck with the hummingbirds zooming around. Walter even shares his recipes with guests. They make you feel like family while you are visiting. Our room was beautifully decorated and so clean. There are many places to relax here, so you don't feel as though you need to spend all your time in your room. Very large selection of teas with nice mugs and these are available to you at any time. We won't stay anywhere else in Durango from now on!

Our extended family of 11 (adults) spent 3 nights in 5 of the rooms at Country Sunshine B&B. All rooms were spotless, with charming decor and thoughtful touches throughout. With perfect weather, we enjoyed our breakfast on the large deck overlooking the river valley and always-busy hummingbird and bird feeders. Breakfasts were created from the freshest ingredients and absolutely delicious; the staff was fun, friendly, and attentive. Evening desserts brought every day to a splendid close. Walter provides his recipes to guests who would like to try gourmet cooking when they return home. Our group took full advantage of the complementary wine, beer, soft drinks, and bottled water ... and the never-empty cookie plate. In the evenings, we enjoyed talking around the campfire, in the hot tub, and on one of the decks. With the spring runoff, the sound of the flowing river creates a soothing, relaxing atmosphere for everyone. Away from the city lights of Durango, the dark skies revealed countless stars, satellites, and even a few meteors. We had anticipated a pleasant stay based on the reviews, but our visit far exceeded everyone's hopes & expectations. If you need it, the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly; most rooms had TVs and cable, but I don't think any got used more than ~1 hour total in our 3-night stay. I have stayed in numerous "luxury" hotels around the world, but I have never stayed at a more relaxing, friendly place ... and savored such culinary treats. Jodi & Walter, their staff, and wonderful home in a spectacular location all combine to turn "lodging" into a true vacation. They truly do everything possible to delight their guests. I hope we have the opportunity to return in the future. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION !!!

Room tip: The Writer's Den is directly under the kitchen; if you're a light sleeper, you may hear footsteps when breakfast preparation starts ~6am.

We just love the Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast. We've been there for several visits and been warmly greeted by Walter and Jodi every time. There is nothing better than soaking in the hot tub at the Country Sunshine while enjoying a nice glass of wine after a glorious day of hiking in Durango. Walter and Jodi give excellent recommendations of restaurants to eat at and places to visit while in Durango. We will definitely visit again.

My husband and I spent three nights at Country Sunshine over Memorial Day weekend. This was our third time there and we love it more, each time we stay. The house and rooms are clean, comfortable and charming! There is plenty of room and many quiet places to sit and relax...inside and outside, whether you want to be alone, or with the nice people that this B&B attracts.
I love the linens and all the thoughtful things that Jodi and Walter do to make you feel relaxed and pampered. There are candy dishes everywhere, fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies that are the best ever, fresh fruit and plenty of beverages for your convenience. I also very much appreciate the tissues and make-up remover cloths that they provide in the rooms. All the comforts of home are everywhere.
The breakfasts and evening desserts are exceptional and the very best we have ever experienced at a B&B (or any restaurant). Walter goes out of his way to make the breakfasts memorable and their staff is warm and friendly, making sure you have everything you need or want.
We love the setting and charm of this place, but it is special due to the owner's, their staff and their two, four-legged friends "Anya" and "Kitty" Thank you Walter & Jodi. We will see you next year!

Room tip: We have stayed in three of their rooms and felt comfortable in each of them. If you cannot climb stairs at all, then choose the rooms on the first floor (Riverview and Pine). And as always when staying at a B&B...come with a happy heart and consideration for the other guests.
