“Some of the best beer in town”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

Carver's brews some of the best beer in town, including the semi-secret "spring tonic" pre-prohibition lager, which is one of the best beers in America. Also, decent food and a nice location.

“Good beer, average food”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

We stopped in for dinner and drinks while walking around old town Durango. The restaurant itself felt about 100*F when we first stepped in, so we were very relieved when they asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating. The back patio was a great, charming atmosphere.

Service was definitely lacking. We probably sat for about 10 minutes before our waitress came to get our drink orders. To be fair, I think it must have been her first night. However, she made mistakes that even a novice server typically wouldn't make. First of all, she took our food orders and then returned about 15 minutes later and asked if we wanted dessert. We had to tell her we hadn't eaten yet, which was a bit awkward. Food (2 steaks) was slow coming out and was nothing special. I sat with an empty glass for my entire meal while our waitress and several other staff walked right by. I finally had to flag our waitress down to ask for another drink.

I'd suggest skipping the food and just sitting at the bar for a few drinks. The beer was good and maybe the bartender is a little more on top of things.

“Good beer but the food sucks”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

The beer was pretty good, but the burger was awful. Resembled a hockey puck, dry and hard. Also, no where near the 1/2 lb. that was claimed.
