A nice day trip...needs minimum of half day...and probably 3/4 of a day. The educational value is great for kids. Take plenty of water, a hat and were either sports shoes or hiking shoes as there are a few ladder climbs. Tour guides very well informed and helpful.

Our tour guide was Paul Farrel and he was just amazing!! You can tell he is a history buff. It was a workout and half but worth every bit to see!! We also toured the Spruce Tree House. Can't wait to go back and see the rest!

“Cliff Dwellings”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We toured all three of the cliff dwelling houses. It was such a spiritual experience to walk through homes that are over 1000 years old and wonder how the Indians lived and survived in those mountains. The park has excellent tours and knowledgable park rangers. Something that everyone should take the time to see.

“Seeing is believing”

This was THE highllight of our vacation! I have to add to that and say the young woman we had as a guide was GREAT, she made the tour and was very knowledgeable! We arrived mid morning and picked a later time for our paid tour and did a self guided tour first. After the tours we were driving throughout we seen 5 foxes. We stopped at various pull overs and all where extraordinary. We ate lunch, it was very good, and the cook gave us plenty on our plate. This was a great the time of year to see and enjoy this area! This is a must see! DO not forget your camera, hat, water, sunscreen if needed. Well worth the strenuous hikes. Nobody was stressed or pushed beyond their capability. You go at your own pace! Awesome, awesome!

“Fun and so educational”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

I found Mesa Verde tours here on Trip Advisor and I am so glad I did! My husband and I had a wonderful and very full day touring Mesa Verde with Aaron. He picked us up at our hotel in Durango and drove us to Mesa Verde, all the while telling us about the history of Mesa Verde and the people (Ancestral Puebloans) who lived there 1400 years ago.We marveled at the ingenuity of the people who built dwellings on cliff faces without the benefit of modern tools. Aaron has an archeological backround and has studied the people, their culture, farming and structures extensively. He is enthusiastic about the history and culture and we were fascinated by it all.
A picnic lunch was provided, along with plenty of water(it was a very hot day).
My husband and I are amateur photographers and Aaron was patient and very helpful pointing out some great photo ops along the tour.
Thanks, Aaron.
We would love to do additional tours with this company.
