Stayed here as a group of ladies celebrating a hen party. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean with plenty of space. The evening meal was superb. The hotel has a great outside/BBQ area. I would return to Walshes Hotel again. A great venue at very reasonable prices.

Just back from a weekend break at Walsh's and a good time was had by all! The girl who checked us in at reception (Orla) was very friendly, welcoming and helpful and directed us towards the dinner special offer of 3 course steak diner for 2 with bottle of wine for £40.00 per couple. The rooms were large and clean with adequate facilities. The diner turned out to be excellent with the bar/restaurant staff also providing the same friendly service as the receptionist and I could not fault any part of it! There was no entertainment on the Friday night and we were recommended a couple of local pubs to visit in which we spent a few pleasant hours that evening.
Breakfast on Saturday morning was were the standard slipped, I had one of the worst fry ups ever (the Walsh's super fry) it contained enough oil to cook for a fortnight and had obviously been completely cooked in a deep fat fryer. I did mention this and waiting staff were clearly embarrassed and offered to toast soda for us etc. but between cereal, toast and juice, we had enough. Saturday night meal in the restaurant (included in the weekend deal 2 nights B&B and one evening meal with glass of wine) was also most enjoyable followed by the live entertainment .The entertainment consisted of one guy and a guitar/mouthorgan and he was absolutely fantastic! I would have paid good money to go watch this guy at the Waterfront hall in Belfast without a second thought If considering weather to go to Walsh's or somewhere else for a break later on in the year and this guy is on, it would tip the balance!
On Sunday morning I asked for soda and potato bread toasted and got it, my friend forgot and ended up with the super greasy fry, which waiting staff offered to replace with something else when she said she could not eat it. We complained about the fry (told them we loved everything else) and the good news is the breakfast chef was on holiday so breakfasts (or at least the fry's ) are not normally like that (I am assured) so I am not going to let that put me off and will likely return for another visit.

Three/Four times a year me and my 2 cousins and sister go away for a Hotel break... So we decided to give The Walsh's Hotel a go... Bad idea!!

We where told that our check-in was at 3pm where we had booked the Apartment so the 4 of us could be sharing. When we got there, our room was not avaliable, the reception had no idea about the apartment. We where told to wait at the bar for our room, 2 1/2 hours later we were getting fed up with this, as the receptionist AND the manager were being very rude!

Finally we got to our room, where the heat had not been put on, the phone would not work to ring down to reception to ask AND the room had smelt like Chippy Fat!

We sat for over an hour in our coats waiting on the apartment getting some sort of heat.

The over-all stay was horrible, I had put a complaint in and got a free nights stay, which was not up to any standards.

We stayed for one night at Walsh's as part of a tour of Ireland.

On checking in there was a problem with the booking, despite online confirmation this had not updated into the hotel's IT system. The response was immediate, a room was found, discounted by £20 and two free main courses in Jack's bar.

The hotel is a substantial re-build on a much older site, and consists of several parts, a formal dining room (the Silverhill), Jack's Bar which is a combined bar and restaurant, and a nightclub. Careful design ensures that you can't hear anything from the nightclub in other parts of the hotel.

The rooms are fairly well furnished, top end of three star. Jack's Bar is friendly, excellent service and very good food, certainly three star plus. Breakfast, which is served in the Silverhill, is substantial.

Our receptionist was a treasure, the waitresses and bar staff were first class. I think this would be a great party venue, and we found it a great place for a small family get together as well.

At Walsh's you get a three star hotel at a two star price with four star service. The only downside is limited parking, but there is a capacious public car park just across the road.

Spent a weekend in Northern Ireland. Got a deal 2 nights b& b plus one Entree in the bar. Food lovely. Had a few drinks but bar was a bit noisy late on when the disco started. Breakfast was perfect and they had a vegetarian option which had herself delighted.

But the best thing about this hotel is how easy it is to get around Norther Ireland from it. We went to Bushmills, Giants Causeway and the Titanic experience in Belfast.

Great weekend would definitely go back.

One drawback no car park although plenty of parking on the street. The carpark is used as a smoking area for the nite club at weekends.

Staff were excellent very diligent and professional.

Room Tip: One away from the nite club will get you a better sleep.

We stayed at Walsh's in Maghera after buying a voucher from Treatticket - £59 for 2 people for B&B and dinner from Jacks Bar. Food was delicious, servce excellent & room clean & spacious. Receptionist, waitresses & bar staff were all very helpful & friendly. It was a Sat night, there was music in the bar, good enough crowd but not overly busy. Drinks reasonably priced for a hotel. If I had any critisms it would be that the shower in the room wasnt great, water seemed to spray everywhere but this wasnt a big issue & im sure if we had have said they could have moved us. Great wee hotel & I would definately stay again.
