Annie's Mountain Retreat
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 10, 2010

We have stayed at Annie's Mountain Retreat, in the Romantic cottage 9 years. Craig and Annie always go out of their way to make it an unforgettable trip. After a hard day of hiking there's nothing better than returning to the cottage and the hot tub. It's a time to reconnect for my husband and I. We are already booked for out tenth trip to this little piece of heaven.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the River Cabin in mid Oct 2008. It was really perfect in every aspect. Comfy and cozy living room with NFL tv package, beautiful stone fireplace and attention to decorating detail. Bed was very comfortable and there was a wonderful jetted 2 person tub surrouned by stone. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub while it snowed-awesome! The walk to the river was peaceful and you can sit right at the edge and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the wildlife. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are returning in Oct of 2010. Unfortunately, the River cabin was already booked so we picked the Mountain cabin for this stay which I feel sure will be equally superb. You could not have a cleaner cabin or one with such personal touches!
I don't agree about road noise but you may have to be a little patient when pulling onto and off the highway. Don't think we'd ever entertain staying elsewhere in Estes Park!

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage House with our 2 year old son for a week. Annie's cabins are mainly set up as couples retreats. She requested that we stay at the Carriage House because the other ones are so close to the river. Great idea since we booked several months in advance and there had been record rainfall at the time of our vacation. Raging rivers and 2-year olds do not a relaxing vacation make.

Annie called to warn us that the weather was turning cold and we were traveling from Florida. Since we had already left and she only got voicemail, she had warm coats waiting for all three of us when we got to the cabin. It snowed in mid-August, something us Southerners weren't expecting, but Annie saved the day.

The cabin had absolutely everything you could possible need and lots of things you wouldn't even think of bringing. The first day was cold and rainy, but my husband relaxed by the fire with his altitude headache while my son and I watched elk feeding in the parking lot of the grocery store while picking up supplies.

The Carriage house is incredibly convenient for RMNP. Drive time is nil and you can even walk to the Park from the cabin. There are other vacation cabins in the area that are not as nice as Annie's, but you don't have that "condo village" feel. There definately is no cooker cutter used at Annie's.

If you're looking for a nice, quiet, romantic get away in Estes Park, definately give Annie's Mountain Retreat a try.

We had the privilage to stay in all 4 of the cabins over 8 days in Estes Park. All were absolutely wonderful , each with their own personality. The cabins were meticulously clean, tastefully decorated, with amenities second to none. The owners went out of their way in providing for our comfort and convenience. Everything was great, from the new personal hot tubs, flat screen tv's, comfortable beds, sofas, jacuzzi's , kitchens, and more. We would not even consider staying anywhere else after finding this mountain gem. It is the owners ambition in providing for their guest's enjoyment and comfort that is rare to see and will bring us back again. We came as strangers from New York but left having new friends in Colorado. Thank you !

Annie has cabins at different sites, so be aware of which location you are booking. The Mountain cabin itself was very nice, with a beautiful bathroom and a good hot tub in back. The owners were very responsive to any problems. Our one problem was that this cabin is right on a busy highway; so close, in fact, that it was difficult for us to get safely pulled off the road into the small parking space. Highway noise was present until late at night. Judging from the log book, no one else seemed to mind the proximity of the highway, and some were repeat visitors, but if you don't like traffic noise, this cabin may not be for you.

The cabin was awesome! I loved having the kitchen; it was so covenient! The hot tub was definately wonderful too! I would definately recommend this cabin, and the other cabins looked great too. I was a little worried about the drive every morning to Rocky Mountain National Park, but it wasn't bad at all! Thanks for making our stay great!

Annie’s Mountain Retreat My girlfriend, (now fiancé) and I stayed at The Carriage House outside Estes Park in July 2007 for 4 nights. This cottage is on the owner’s property on a mountain hillside next to their house and could not be nicer! It is upstairs in a separate building and decorated in the cowboy theme. This unit has a GREAT hot tub downstairs in a hot tub area complete with a sky window and again decorated in the cowboy theme.

The cottage kitchen was well stocked with everything including spices, condiments, plates, pots, pans, electric stove, full size frig, full sink and everything you could need. The bathroom in this unit has a large soaking tub, a separate shower and the towels were thick and large and again well stocked with shampoo and body scrubs.

The bedroom is nice, cozy and the has a full sized four poster, notty pine canopy bed, two night stands with country theme lamps, chest of drawers, closet, sound machine, cd player and floor fan. There were robes to use and slippers to wear to the hot tub.

The living room was cozy with an overstuffed chair, small couch, large matching footstool, satellite TV and candy on the end table. The review book for this unit goes on and on with raves about the place in regards to the cute decorating and comfortable stays enjoyed by past guests.

The night before we were to leave, we sat and watch an elk in the front yard for almost and hour. He was enjoying the water fountain and salt block along with the beautiful mountain scenery. On the last morning as I loading to leave a mule deer and fawn strolled by not bothered with me at all.

The area is surrounded by towering pines and clean mountain air. We enjoyed this as our base for driving Trail Ridge and Fall River Roads, exploring in RMNP and shopping in Estes Park. The owners could not have been nicer although very busy with the additional cabins and cottages. They spoke of the units down the Big Thompson River and if these units are anything like the Carriage House you can bet on a GREAT stay.

We will return and hope to stay in another of there units. Thanks Annie and Craig for a great experience!
