A wonderful museum and very kid friendly. Will go back with friends from Germany in September. One of the best.

This gem of a museum should not be missed. The displays are well arranged and described. There are interactive displays including microscopes to see the detail of artifacts. While we were there, they had a special exhibit on mountain lions - very well done! At the end of a .5 mile easy walk, we were rewarded with the Escalante Ruins and a panoramic view for miles in all directions. There are signs along the walk that describe the flora along the way. The $3 entrance fee is well worth it!

Stopped by while headed back to Pagosa Springs while touring on my motorcycle. Great selection of plants with names before you enter the building. Also a walking trail, and ruins on site, along with great exhibits. Unfortunately, the day I was there was field trip day from one of the local schools and the kids were pretty noisy and active so I cut my visit short. I plan on returning, it's just too interesting not to. I also had a pleasant conversation with some of the staff, they couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. In particular, Mike, in the book store was particularly helpful and even shared some info on local roads of interest for motorcyclists. He also seemed very knowledgeable about some of the Anasazi ruins in the area. Well worth the time to stop and take a look, there's also info on early anglo settlements in the area. I'm definitely going back !

If you love the Mesa Verde area and can't get enough of the pottery and the sites, stop here! It's free with your Federal Lands Pass as it's run by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). Lovely views. Great exhibits. Don't miss it.

We spent a short morning at the center. It is realitively new and the exhibits are in good condition. It is small, but very informative. There are exhibits for all ages. You can also obtain information about visiting other anasazi sites in the monument. the hike up the hill to the ruin is very easy and worth the spectacualr views.
