“Great Place in Dillon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2011

This was a great find in Dillon for a ski weekend. Rate was $125 with AAA discount, mid January (holiday weekend). Rooms are very comfortable and clean, with good radiant heating, not the old window installed blowers. Wonderful location right on the lake. Facilty has 4 separate buildings all connected via walkways. Breakfast was included, and was more than just continental and a waffle iron. Included sausage and eggs as well. Very quiet location, far away from the main road, yet close enough for an easy exit to the ski areas. There is a restaraunt (not affiliated with the hotel) right next door.

We had driven from Estes Park and debated whether to stay in Grand Lake or Dillon. So glad we chose the Best Western Ptarmigan at Dillon because it turned out to be the best hotel we stayed at during a week-long trip in Colorado. Unlike several Grand Lake hotels that are pricier or did not include breakfast or are not that close to the lake, the Best Western Ptarmigan has very good off-season rates, includes breakfast and is in a great location right by Dillon lake in a nice area of town. The grounds are nicely landscaped and the lake view is beautiful and peaceful. The room is clean and tastefully decorated, and the bathroom is nice and spacious. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. For dinner we dined at the Arapahoe Cafe and Pub next door (check for nightly specials served in the downstairs pub). The hotel served a hot breakfast in the morning with scrambled eggs & sausage, hard-boiled eggs, waffles as well as pastries, cereal, juices and fruit. After breakfast we took a stroll along the lake. The whole experience was so nice we wished we could stay another night! Would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.

I drove to Dillon with no hotel reservation and this was the only hotel I could find by the lake. I am so glad I did. The woman at the reception desk was wonderful as were the rest of the staff. It was very quiet at night. The view from the second floor balcony is unbelievable. The rooms are older, but very comfortable. There is no fridge though, but that was okay. The breakfast was nice too, just enough to start your day. I love it there, and plan to stay there again when my family is in town.
( It reminded me a little of Lake Bled in Slovenia)

Stayed here with friend & 2 pets for 2 nights, it was so beautiful with the aspens changing colors at their beautiful peaks, we called on the way out of town and booked another night! The only complaint I have (not the hotel's fault but could have advised us, possibly moved us to another room) was that there was some sort of "car testing" going on in the parking lot ALL night long outside our room, starting up of engines, loud talking and this kept our pets barking and kept us up as well. The front desk advised we should have called them, rightfully so however very disruptive. After they all check out the next day, our stay was restful and relaxing. Complimentary breakfast was great, go early cuz it gets really busy in a small area. Hot and cold items, nice selection. Beautiful reservoir only a few steps away and a morning view that will take your breath away. Will definitely stay here again and soon!

Adequate sized room, very clean, and comfortable beds. Some noise from the ice machine outside of room. Beautiful location by the lake, large hot tub. would recommend and would stay there again.

It was not the classic look hotel. It was close to the dam. There were a lot to do. Free internet and breakfast. It was 9000 feet high so I got to adjust to the altitude. It was clean and close to a lot of mountains for hiking

The Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillon, CO is located in a WONDERFUL spot on the North shore of beautiful Dillon Resvr. The staff of this hotel are absolutely superb! And, that high compliment goes for the staff who manage the phones and the desk, those who provide the full hot breakfast each morning, the effient and friendly staff who maintain and clean the rooms and the General Manager as well. All are courteous, friendly and, best of all, they KNOW THE AREA in and around Dillon. Their drivng, shopping, entertainment and dining all proved to be both current and accuate.
For those unfamiliar with Dillon, it is less than a hundred miles from the Denver airport so driving up from Denver provides both a beautiful and relaxing break from big city traffic. Just past the Eisnehower tunnel, Dillon is over 7,000 feet in elevation and it surrounded by several top-ranked ski resorts such as Breckenridge, Copper Mt. and Keystone. In summer, a full range of outdoor activies is available including Blue Ribbon Trout Fishing, Sailing, moutain touring, golf, tennis, swimming, etc.
The Ptarmigan Lodge itself is in an ideal location with five separate buildings offering lodging. We recommend one of the upstairs rooms several of which include small balconies with magnificient views. We were so impressed by the BWPL that we actually changed our itinerary and returned from Aspen to spend a second night there. For a clean, reasonably priced hotel location in a stunning setting with OUTSTANDING hotel staff, my wife and I highly recommend the BWPL!!! --- Mountain Man Dan.
