We splurged on a hotel during a recent visit to Denver. The Ritz Carlton was wonderful. The rooms were beautiful, housekeeping was fantastic and room service was terrific. We used the hotel Porsche for a ride to the Rockies game, very convenient and fun for my teenager! The only wrinkle was being a charged for a Red Bull from the minibar that we did not drink - we scrupulously avoid consuming those items! It was quickly resolved, however. We would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: The concierge provides free bottled water - do not drink the $6 bottles in the room, lol!

Having stayed at various Ritz Carlton hotels around the would this was an easy choice when our family of 4 (incl kids, 10 and 13) needed a hotel in Denver for 3 nights. The hotel is very good indeed, good service (not least the brilliant help we got from the Concierge desk - many thanks again Breeana), very modern, well kept, clean, good room service etc. Got a very nice room with a view. Just a small note, used their fitness centre a couple of times - best I have ever seen, yes it was outsourced I.e. you had access to a full pro gym run by someone else, but had direct entrance from the hotel and it was amazing - in addition to atleast 50 cardio machines, huge weightlifting section and pool, they also had a full size basket ball court and a climbing wall ... Impressive

The staff are the usual Ritz top notch caliber, especially the staff in the "club lounge". This hotel falls short of our Ritz expectations in a few ways. First the fitness center is not part of the hotel. It is a regular fitness club for anyone with a membership and is a bit inconvenient to get to for hotel guests. This hotel has NO pool other than a lap pool which is an amenity that we look forward to. Our room was nice but the carpeting could definitely use a good cleaning. The main foot traffic area was a very dark streak in the gold color carpet. The "signature" restaurant (and only restaurant) Elways, was highly hyped and a disappointment of major proportions. Again the staff was good but the kitchen staff was slower than a glacier as it was a 1 hour wait between salad and entree'. Even then the steak was under cooked, veal very over cooked and scallops tough and chewy. All totaled my wife and I sat for 2 hours and we had to skip dessert because dinner took way too long.

Room Tip: Any room that ends with the numbers "09" is where the ice machines are.

Some friends and I booked two suites next to each other for last New Years. The accommodations were fantastic! Our room had a HUGE tub, a great walk in shower, fantastic living room and super comfortable beds. We were able to have a little party in our rooms with friends without being bothered.

The staff were all super helpful and nice.

I would definitely stay here again!

I have high expectations and when I stay at a hotel like the Ritz, I expect it to be a *luxury* hotel in all respects. So many hotels claim to be luxury, but fall short on this. This hotel, however, meets expectations. It is clean, the service is generally good, the food (both room service and Elway's) is excellent, the rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, it has amenities, the concierge is accommodating, etc. It was just all-around excellent. I have only two complaints/suggestions (I'm a tough critic!):

(1) Elway's should be able to accommodate hotel guests. We arrived around 2 pm and asked right away for a reservation at Elway's for any time that evening and were told that there was nothing available. We asked the concierge to recommend restaurants in the area (see complaint #2 below). On our way out to the restaurant that we reserved, we stopped by Elway's to see if anything had changed. We were told that nothing had changed, but we could feel free to stand by the podium and pounce on the first bar table that opened up. They didn't even offer to let us know when the next bar table was going to open up (no one else seemed to be waiting). That turned me off - the onus should not be on the guest to elbow their way in to a table. And if Elway's is not associated with the Ritz, then the Ritz should have a hotel on location that will accommodate guests. We ended up standing at the podium for 20 mins and grabbing the first table.

(2) The hotel needs to get a list of local restaurants together. When we couldn't get a reservation at Elway's, I asked the concierge for recommendations in the area - anything other than bar food please. Well, they recommended a Bar & Grille across the street (Rock Bottom or something like that). And then they recommended places (I can't remember which) that were a small step above a place like TGIFs (maybe Cheesecake Factory or something like that). The concierge was trying her best to help, but she clearly was not equipped with the information she needed to be equipped with in order to recommend a place.

All of that said, we stayed for 5 nights and everything else was basically perfect. We even ate at Elway's most of the other nights, where we found the service to be excellent and the food to be fabulous. I'm a big fan of this hotel!!

Only thing I can't speak to is the location, as we didn't venture out much.

We often stay at the newer Four Seasons when in Denver but were pleased to learn that the Ritz was a pet (Golden Retriever) friendly hotel (not so the Four Seasons). Both are centrally located. We booked a one bedroom suite on the club level. The staff greeting us, check-in, and room arrival were first rate. We rarely travel with our dog, but we were on our way to a two week stay in the mountains. Staff asked for our dog's name and gave us a small bag of treats for him as we departed. As the club room does not allow pets, my husband and I took turns checking it out....a gracious and hospitable setting. We later ordered room service (food prepared by the Elway restaurant in the hotel), which was excellent. Our living room, bedroom and bath were very large and attractive. We received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and nice note from the staff. The Asprey toiletries were wonderful. We were seeking a first class experience, and the Ritz helped us achieve that. The Ritz Carlton in Denver has steep competition from the beautiful Four Seasons. However, the club level and pet friendly option make it a place to which we will return. Personally, I think that the hotel deserves a higher ranking on the Trip Advisor site.

Room Tip: If you are in a position to reserve a club level room, we had an excellent experience. The hotel i...

The Ritz Carlton in Denver is a beautiful property located in the heart of downtown. Great service, very friendly and helpful staff. When I mentioned to the concierge we wanted to rent a car for a day, she made the arrangements and had the car delivered to the hotel for me at a rate lower than I could find on the internet.

My wife and I explored the area and loved that we could walk all around town from the hotel. The only negative comments is the doors must be pulled very hard to close them and you can hear a bit of "slamming" in the morning.

Also, Elway's has a delicious hamburger.
