“Great location, facilities were clean but dated”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

The best thing about this hotel was the location. There were several restaurants/pubs and a convenient store that also sells liquor that open til late right across the road. There were some used clothing and manicure shops next door, too. The facilities were kind of old but were clean. I had a breakfast (2 eggs with toast and bacon) at the restaurant. It tasted okay but it was not cheap ($10). The business center provided free printing, which was good for business travelers. The staff at the counter and the restaurant were nice. The stay was okay overall.

This hotel is outdated, but looks like they are starting to remodel it. They were painting the hallways while we were there. Our room on the 3rd floor was still rather outdated - furnishings were pretty ugly, and the bathroom was tiny and very old, lamp wires were strewn across areas of the floor and there were 6 lamps which seemed like a lot, the two florescent lights in the bathroom buzzed loudly, bathroom fan was extremely loud, bathroom is tiny, carpet worn, curtains and wallpaper were old. Generally left much to be desired, tho adequate I suppose. King room was decent size. It was pet friendly. We did think the bed & linens were newer, they were very comfortable. Slept well. It did have a flat screen tv and a coffee maker. The ac/heat worked good. It seemed like some of the room was new (bed, tv, ac unit), and the rest was really old. And apparently this hotel still allows indoor smoking in the rooms - the entire hallway reeked strongly of cigarettes, like someone was actively chain smoking packs of cigarettes in their room. Our room was designated non-smoking, but it seems other rooms are not. Didn't smell it too bad once we were in our room but really overwhelming in the hallway. The elevators look a bit strange inside and are old. Adequate parking with a fence around the lot. Outdoor courtyard at center of hotel had a pool and grass area, looked old & worn out. Didn't see a continental breakfast - they had a decent looking restaurant where you could be served and pay for food, but nothing for free in the morning. Guess can't expect much for the E. Colfax area location, a somewhat rough-around-the-edges grungy crowded strip of Denver. Next door are bars, a liquor store, gas station, clubs, etc. It's ok but we likely won't stay here again. Maybe after they finish the remodel it will be better.

This hotel was given a 4 star rating and that is why I chose this place. The room needed a facelift, the bathroom had rust on everything that could rust. The patio had beer cans on the table. The carpet was old and needed to be steam cleaned or replaced. The location was pretty good but I thought the place would have been better kept with the ratings it had.

Just did four days at the Rock-mada on Colfax. Although worn, weary and wilted, the room was clean, I hope, and fellow borders reasonably tame. I was on the third floor, far side of the hotel, near the elevator despite requesting otherwise. The knuckle daggers and creepy crawlers were kinda noisy but that's about the bums that raised them and certainly not the establishments fault.
The restaurant was under-staffed, menu limited to a basic breakfast, some bland Mexican dishes, hamburger's (Not available when I ordered) and a couple of other unremarkable dishes. The inroom television was equally pathetic, the reception poor, basic channels sorely limited and the movies costly.
Nope, won't stay here again, the old adage rings true: yas get what ya pay for....

Room Tip: Find a different hotel.

LAST YEAR WAS GREAT but this year the Ramada was sold and instead of calling the people with reservations they let the people come and still didn't tell them. They posted little signs saying under construction but it was to late to find a new place close to where we wanted to be.

A GOOD COSTUMER SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT WOULD HAVE CALLED AND HELP FIND OTHER PLACES WHILE THIS RAMADA WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
