After trying to find a hotel with a bit of character in Denver, I stumbled across the Oxford Hotel. I loved the character of the hotel that was built in the 1800's, but has been thoroughly updated to beautiful and modern standards.

I managed to find the best rate on another website, but per the hotel's best guarantee rate policy, they not only matched the other website's price, but gave us an additional 10% off our bill for notifying them. Fantastic!!

Located in the heart of LoDo - the hotel is near the old train station and a stone's throw away from many bars and restaurants. The hotel itself was as beautiful in person as can be seen in the online photos. All of the common rooms and bedrooms are sympathetically decorated, but with the modern luxurious finish of any boutique hotel. The only complaint I had is the bed could have used some more (sleeping) pillows - something I'm sure the staff could have easily taken care of, but I was too tired to call down to ask. We only stayed one night, but would have stayed more had our trip permitted.

The Oxford Hotel was exactly what we were hoping for on our recent trip to Denver. It is an historic, charming hotel in a great area. We were able to walk to excellent restaurants, a fabulous bookstore and great shops. The staff was very friendly & helpful, always ready to assist. When our pre-arranged car rental fell through, Nate & Ben stepped in immediately and found us a car within half an hour! Each time we walked through the lobby we were greeted with cordial "Hellos" from all the staff. Sounds simple, right? but in many hotels this just doesn't happen anymore. When we wanted to visit the Denver Art Museum and felt it might be too far to walk we used the complimentary chauffeured car. Knowing that it was an anniversary trip for us, we were left a bottle of bubbly & chocolates in our room, the Presidential Suite. The two rooms in this suite are on the 5th floor and were beautiful. Floor-to- ceiling windows befitting the history of the building were dressed in gorgeous drapes and both the living room & bedroom were lovely and comfortable. We enjoyed great views of LoDo both day & night. The Coors stadium was in the distance. The suite included two bathrooms, one with double sinks and bath, the other with a glass shower. Both updated and a good size with all the amenities. The halls in the Oxford are wide, spacious, furnished with antiques and beautifully lit in the evening--and quiet. As other reviewers have already said - this is a classy hotel! A coffee set-up in the morning on each floor, a lovely lobby with a fire in the fireplace on the chilly days, a very friendly staff, a restaurant right in the hotel offers a very good breakfast so one doesn't have to go out and roam the streets each morning, super location and much more. We loved the Oxford Hotel! There just aren't many like this anymore. Many thanks to director Michael O'Shea and his great team!

Room Tip: Use the photos to help you choose. Corner rooms seem to book early.

We had a wonderful time at this neat old hotel. The room was remodeled and fresh and clean.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The adjoining restaurant was very good and the bar McCormicks had great lunch and after the ballgame specials. We walked to Coors Field and watched a Rockies game at night. We down 16th Street and took in the sights. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had the least expensive room, it it meant our expectations. That is all we needed and it was grea...

We've been there mid-august, that was our most expensive stay in our two weeks trip in Colorado and Wyoming, and the most disappointing also, regarding the paid value.

Overall, the hotel and the rooms are very very nice. We stayed in a corner room; while it's a very nice setting, it is also very noisy: you get one busy street on each side of the room and the windows seem to be as old as the building, with no insulation at all.

We got a B&B package, it's really not worth the price: the breakfast and the service in the McCormick's were both poor, you'd better save the difference for any other place around. If anyway you opt for it, you'll maybe receive a $40 certificate upon arrival, "which you can use every time every where in the hotel". Don't be fooled, it's not really that, it's only your breakfast voucher, and it will be used only for that, even if your breakfast has a value of $20 and you went to any other places in the hotel, as we did: we also had a fish dinner at the McCormick's, that was good (nothing extraordinary still)… and, again, expensive.

Want some character in the hotel you stay at? This is the place! It's public rooms look like the victoriana ideal and the rooms are subdued. Indirect lighting in an old hotel.CLASSY.
My father in law stayed there is the 30's and paid a dollar--his last--but the next day he got a job!
They charged me more than what he paid, but the location is in the heart of what's happening now, just as it was in the 30's. Their bar makes for an interesting eveniing, just watching all the couple and singles going in and out, but do check out their key lime martini, if you like key lime pie!
Parking is a bit stiff ($20) but it is valet and they are sweethearts about getting the car, or taking you there to get something out of the car.
Rooms are smaller than you're used to, but plenty ampul for a king bed.

Best Hotel I've ever stayed in! Absolutely beautiful decor! Every aspect of our 2 night stay was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and so accommodating! First, they offer a 50% discount to veterans. How great is that? I told them when booking it would be our 43rd anniversary. When we checked in they brought up complimentary champagne, chocolates and roses in silver buckets on a tray! When we returned for a night out we returned to our room to find red and white rose petals scattered on the bed with a "happy anniversary" card signed by many of the staff! There was also dim lighting and soft music playing on the bose stereo!

If we're ever in Denver again we would ONLY stay at the Oxford! If you go to Denver you must stay here! We really enjoyed the live music in the LoDo district which is an easy walk away. Be sure to go to the Lodo'd rooftop bar. Great food, service and view of the city! Check out Herm's Hideaway on Larimer St. for great live bands :-)

The Oxford Hotel is one of the finest hotels I've encountered in all my years of traveling. The hotel is very beautiful and well maintained. I love the ambiance of an older hotel over a modern chain hotel. The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived until we checked out. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathroom had an incredibly large bathtub with shower. What a nice feature! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting downtown Denver.
