“The Cruise Room was fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

Hi!

A friend of mine brought me to The Cruise Room tonight. She loves The Cruise Room and it was my first visit. I fell in love with the ambiance, history and atmosphere. The cocktails were outstanding. I am "in the business," and I have to say that for everything you have going for you the true point of differentiation was the service. Our server was Kim, and she was fantastic. She was always available, but never intrusive. She had great recommendations and also made sure we knew whatever we chose was going to be great. She was witty and charming without interjecting herself into our experience other than to make sure it was great and that we were comfortable. Kim was subtle when she needed to be and engaging when appropriate. Kudos to The Cruise Room and to Kim. I will come back again not only for the atmosphere, but also in hopes that Kim will be my server again. Please make sure she knows she was appreciated tonight!

Thanks,
Andrew

My husband and I chose The Oxford for the history and location, but we were disappointed in the check-in service and room service. In fact, when we called for room service, we were told someone would have to call us back later. The staff in general was not overly friendly or helpful. The downtown location was fantastic and it was an enjoyable walk to Pepsi Center. Both The Cruise Room and McCormick's offered convenience and great atmosphere, but we were again disappointed in the service.

Great hotel very convienent to Rockies stadium, 16th st mall, Pepsi center just a short cab ride away. Excellent service from front desk to the doormen. They have complimentary town car that will take you anywhere withing a couple miles downtown. Get the crab bisque at McCormicks and try their happy hour!

We stayed at the Oxford for 5 nights, and loved the location in the center LoDo with easy access everywhere, the car service and staff were very pleasant. The Cruise Room, is a wonderful vintage bar, and we enjoyed sipping classic cocktails amongst art deco loveliness.

However....the room left a LOT to be desired for the high price tag. The king bed was a high creaky, four postered bed, which blocked the view of the TV and was overall not luxurious and comfortable, and the sheets felt itchy. A big disappointment, would return to the bar, but would not stay at the hotel again unless the rooms were redone.

We stayed at the hotel for a few days on our way to Vail to ski. We wish now that we had done this years ago as part of our annual ski holiday. Firstly the hotel simply exudes history. From walking into the lobby with its antique oil paintings, old world charm and chandeliers to having a pint of ale and a cheeseburger in the big, airy saloon bar, we felt were observers of days gone by. The restaurant still has the original partition which was used to section off the room during prohibition.
Our room was splendid. A huge bed flanked on either side by antique furniture and two large windows framed by heavy Victorian style drapes. The ensuite bathroom with bath on legs, was beautifully finished and echoed the past yet provided modern conveniences. The food was very good in the bar and in the restaurant. However, the surroundings, atmosphere and service are probably the most memorable aspects of our . If you are looking to step back in history for a while and like good food in a comfortable and laid back environment then this place really hits the spot.

Loved staying at this hotel! They are the oldest hotels in Denver, and the history is very cool. Rooms are gracious with high ceilings, and nice beds. Rooms are very clean and well appointed. We found it very quiet, even staying on the street side on a Friday and Saturday. Bathrooms have a nice pre-war style, even though modern. We booked our room through "Hotel Tonight" and got a excellent price. The Cruise Bar is a not too be missed! it is a complete step back in time, awesome deco decor and drinks, not to be missed!

When we arrived at the Oxford we were greeted by the friendly bell staff. I enjoy staying in hotels that have old, elegant architecture without it feeling run down. The hotel is in excellent shape and offers all the modern amenities one expects when traveling (business center to print airline passes, free wifi in the rooms, and fitness center to name a few), plus complimentary town car service (which we needed on a day when there was a downpour). The staff is all friendly and helpful, and he room was marvelous. The hotel is located downtown, making it easy to get to restaurants, shopping and events. My wife and I are planning to visit the area again, and will definitely stay at the Oxford when we return.
