“Paying for the experience”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

I was excited to experience the gorgeous lobby of this historic building downtown when family was here to visit. We participated in the afternoon tea and were immediately seated next to the piano player. The hostess left us to ourselves to make our selections and the food was beautifully presented. However, what we were truly paying for was the experience. Our server gave us plenty of space, only coming by to check on our tea pots to make sure we had enough hot tea. They only kept checking one of the three, so my pot grew cold in not being refilled with hot water as frequently. The area is pretty and is a good spot for people watching. Be prepared for $38-51 per person for the experience and although the food was decent, it wasn't extraordinary.

We are grateful for your patronage and are delighted to know that you had entertained family recently during Afternoon Tea.

Although we are pleased to read that your visit with us was enjoyable overall, we are concerned that your experience was not particularly impressive based on your comments.

We would be most appreciative of any additional information you are willing to offer on how we could have made your Afternoon Tea experience with us exceptional. We continuously strive for excellence in service and the feedback we receive from our guests helps us to achieve this goal. Please feel free to contact our Director of Restaurants, Thomas Gutmann, at tgutmann@brownpalace.com at your convenience.

We hope you will consider returning in the future and allowing us an opportunity to exceed your expectations.

I spent in this hotel 5 nights on a business trip. The hotel lobby is absolutely gorgeous, and never seized to amaze me every day I entered the hotel. My room was however quite mediocre, with a constant buzzing noise at night. Overall, I didn't find the service that great, particularly housekeeping, starting with the fact that there was an ironing board in the middle of the room when I first entered.

We are pleased to know that you were impressed with the architecture and decor of our Atrium Lobby, however, we are disappointed to read that your room accommodation was not what you were anticipating.

Please be advised that we do offer several various layouts and room configurations within each of our room categories, and our team would be more than happy to assist you with selecting the room you would be most comfortable in.

I also would like to apologize for any service oversight by our Housekeeping staff. The lapse in service you experienced is not in keeping with our high level of standards, and I have alerted our management team so we may be able to follow up internally.

Thank you for your time in expressing your comments and please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything further we could have done to exceed your expectations.

My wife and I enjoyed almost everything about the Brown Palace. Our room and the public spaces, including the beautiful lobby and the Churchill lounge, are well appointed and the staff is very professional. Unfortunately, we woke one morning to hear what sounded like a large dog, barking and howling. It had apparently been locked in a guest room a few doors down the hallway. The racket went on for a half hour or more. The Brown Palace suddenly had taken on the ambiance of an animal shelter! I was shocked to discover that dogs are allowed in any room at the Brown Palace. This means that it is a roll of the dice whether a stay will be quiet and restful...or something else. At the very least, those who choose to bring an animal with them on their vacation and their dogs should be segregated in their own section of the building so the rest of us can enjoy the experience we were expecting.

Although we are pleased to know that you and your wife had enjoyed almost every aspect of your recent stay with us, we are truly disheartened to learn that your visit was adversely impacted by the actions of another guest.

I can assure you that the unfortunate situation you encountered was an isolated incident, which regrettably was delayed by the efforts of attempting to locate the pet's owner. For those guests who do travel with pets, we do have them acknowledge and sign a waiver indicating their pet will not be a disturbance to other guests and will be supervised at all times. We are truly sorry that these guidelines were not adhered to in this particular situation.

We do hope you will consider a return visit so we may be able to provide you with the peaceful respite that all of our guests deserve and should receive. Please contact our Rooms Division Manager, Ryan Pratt, at rpratt@brownpalace.com when you are returning so we may be able to personally handle your reservation.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you again very soon!

I Loved everything about my stay at the BPH. From the helpful clerk and bellhop at checkin,
to all other personal, it was a most pleasurable experience. Cornor room 523 was an
unexpected bonus. Living room was nicely appointed as well as bedroom. Exceptional shower.
The charm of the Hotel, it's history, excellent restaurants, to teal in lobby with Harpist, exceeded my expectations. I look forward to a return visit.

I live in Colorado and last week was showing a friend of mine from Georgia the sites. We went to downtown Denver and started at the top of the 16th street mall. Decided to go into the Brown Palace, it's a historical place in Denver, unique, and amazing to see.

We entered not realizing it was time for tea in the lobby. The lobby was filled with folks having tea and snacks. We asked if we could sit down and though they were full and you were suposed to have reservations, they made room for us! The service was amazing, friendly, and everyone was so happy. We had a pleasant hour chatting and catching up all the while looking around the lobby enjoying the ambiance and hustle and bustle of everyone.

Being a Denver native I have also stayed at the hotel myself and highly recommend this place. I enjoy unique historical places that also pull off good impecible service and The Brown Palace is one of the best!

Stayed in room 705 for two nights. King bed. No view, but good natural light. Check in was easy. Room was ready before 3p which was nice as I’d travelled from east coast. Bellman was very helpful and helped me get a new room (I don’t like adjoining rooms). Ate at Ship’s Tavern – just so-so. Went to cigar bar which was fun. Good sleep quality and hotel was quiet while I was there. Good-sized flat screen TV with HD. The room could use more plugs – I needed to get creative for all my gadgets. Good shower and water pressure. Used wakeup call service and all went well. Did not do room service.

Why do hotels – especially at this price point- charge for wifi? It’s ridiculous.

Easy wall to 16th Street Mall area – very nice for walking, not much for shopping (mostly chains + cheesy gift shops).

Housekeeping was uneven – turn down first night was awesome, not so great the next.

Got a blowout at spa – David was wonderful and did an incredible job with my hair. It was really pricey (usually pay $35 in NYC) – it was $72 with mandatory tip added (which was OK since David was awesome – but what if he wasn’t?)

It was a pleasure to have you here as our guest at The Brown Palace Hotel and we appreciate your detailed review.

We are pleased to read that your overall visit with us was enjoyable and that you particularly appreciated Churchill Bar, your room accommodation and amenities and your experience in the Spa with David. He was happy to receive your kind words pertaining to his service.

I would like to apologize, however, for your mediocre dining experience at Ship Tavern, as well as for the inconsistent Housekeeping service. These concerns are not indiciative of the experience that we strive to provide.

I also regret to learn of your disappointment with the charge for Internet. We had decided that it would be best to only charge those guests who are using elective services instead of incorporating this additional fee into the room rate. We are careful to ensure that our pricing is competitive with other luxury properties in the Denver area, and are pleased to continue offering complimentary Inernet in our Business Center and Atrium Lobby.

We do endeavor to exceed our customers' expectations and have shared your feedback with our management team for internal follow up and future consideration. Please feel free to contact Ryan Pratt, Rooms Division Manager, at rpratt@brownpalace.com if we may be of any assistance or if you would be willing to share additional details on how we could have improved upon your stay.

We would be most grateful for an opportunity to welcome you back soon!
