“Business Hotel...sort of”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

This property earned it's average rating for what it didn't offer as opposed to what is does offer. Rooms are what you would expect. Appropriately sized for a high-rise hotel. Bed was comfortable with too many pillows. Room was clean, work space adequate, lighting was sufficient and plenty of plugs for business travelers. Coffee service was stuffed into the cabinet and below par in my opinion for the level of property. Room did include a safe that you could store a laptop in. The bathroom is very small. Shower is adequate, plenty of hot water with standard Marriott amenities. The property is well maintained and the housekeeping is top notch throughout. What's missing? Free internet..they charge $12.95 per day. Parking...$29.00 per day, valet or self-park, no difference. Free newspaper...nope, This property is 5 blocks from the convention center and convenitent to the 16th street mall. Overall a good stay...just very expensive. Only a bad choice if you are on a budget.

My hubby and I stayed here at a discount price, which really made me love it even more. There are only a couple of reasons why I don't give it 5 stars. First of all, parking is expensive. Secondly, when the maid cleaned our room, she placed our toiletry and cosmetics bags on the bathroom floor. I was not happy when I came back to the room and saw my stuff on the floor. I don't care how much you clean it, the bathroom floor is simply not the place for guests' items. If you have to move our stuff to clean up, put it back for goodness sake.

On a more positive note, the location was perfect for walking to the 16th Street Mall. And last, but not least, the restaurant had the best dessert EVER -- an apple cobbler with walnuts and ice cream that was TO DIE FOR. I loved it so much that I hugged the cook. No kidding.

I have stayed here before and the service is always very good so the staff should be commended. The rooms are on the small side which one would expect in a downtown high rise setting. The bathrooms are starting to show their age with doors starting to peel and rust around the hinges. The gym is adequate with some free weights next to the pool which is a rare pleasure. Location is very good - walking distance to 16th Stree, convention center, Larimer Square, etc.

I don't stay in "fancy" hotels that often (I'm more of a budget traveler)... so I have mixed feelings about my Marriott experience. I spent 5 nights in the Marriott... ALL the staff were wonderful (and I interacted with at least 5 of them), the hotel was very clean, the location was great...

My disappointments:
-- $12.95 PER DAY for internet in my room - are you kidding me??? (I used the free wifi in the lobby)
-- The pillows are shockingly TINY (I should have asked if they had regular-sized pillows) and way too soft for me...
-- The weight room is on the pool deck (way too hot and humid! Thankfully, the cardio machines are in a separate, regular-temperature room)
-- The room rate was too expensive for what you get.

Room Tip: There are 3 Marriotts in downtown Denver, so when telling friends to meet you at the hotel, you'...

What can I say about this hotel? When a hotel says that it is NOT rated as 5 stars you tend to worry about the state of the hotel. Instead this hotel says that it has been rated by the AAA
as 5 diamonds. When given the directions to get to get to the hotel it took more than 45 minutes for the hotel to give the correct directs...Thus they lost marks at the begining of my stay in the hotel, so please review directions before arrival. Other than that, 5 diamonds for the cleaniness, sleep quality (on extra soft bed), and breakfast (ensure to include the breakfast in the room rate for buffett). The hotel includes a gym, and swimming pool and it what you expect from a Marriott of top rating.

This hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished and feels very luxurious. We only had one night there, and I wish it could have been longer. The staff was courteous and helpful. The room we had was on the 17th floor, which had access to the club lounge. They served a nice breakfast in the morning, including Starbucks coffee, eggs, bacon, fruit, oatmeal and a variety of very nice pastry items. The lounge is spacious, with abundant seating and tables for diners and road warriors with their laptops. There was also a business center, with computers and printers available. Our room was large, with great connections for computer and other electronic devices. Plenty of outlets near the desk and the bedside tables, as well. The bed linens felt as soft as silk. My only hesitation on giving 5 stars was the bed only has 3 pillows to sleep with for a king bed. There were three decorative pillows, but they were large and stiff. Not good for sleeping. Also, only two bath towels were provided. We could have called for more, I am sure, but by the time we realized it, we were ready for bed, and didn't want to wait for their delivery. This hotel is only two blocks from the 16th street walking mall, where there are free shuttles available frequently. I suggest riding the shuttle, end to end, to help you decide where to eat or shop. We actually chose restaurants, not on that strip, so check TripAdvisor for suggestions. There are abundant good choices available. All in all, this hotel leaves you rested and feeling pampered.

Rooms were clean, front desk service was excellent, bar was upscale with a starbucks above it. Overall a better than average Marriott.
Front desk decor, especially the wall behind the front desk was sub-par. Looked like a 2nd grader had done the construction. This was minor though and didn't detract from the stay.
