“Good value for downtown”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I stayed here along with my parents and a couple friend from Germany and we chose this hotel because of the location. It's a good value considering other downtown prices, but the hotel definitely shows its age - in the hallways and the rooms. However, it was clean and safe and the hot breakfast was a nice plus. It's close to the 16th Street Mall, the Capitol and the National Western Art Museum is right next door! All of the staff were very friendly and courteous. I would stay here again if I want to experience downtown Denver but the property could use a little face-lift. The sister property across the street, The Brown Palace, is something to see. Very historic and ornate. If you show your Comfort Inn key, you can receive a discount on food at their restaurants. If anything, it's worth just seeing the Brown Palace lobby!

Room Tip: The hotel is tall and narrow, so you have to pick your poison as far as noise - either be far from t...

Stayed here midweek for 2 nights on the 19th floor. Booked through otel. The desk staff was very nice and helpful. Our flight was delayed and we checked in at 4:30AM and it was not a problem. The staff offered to keep an eye out for the delivery of a bag the airport lost and called us when it came in. The room was comfortable and clean, modern looking very small room. Stayed in the single queen bed room. It had a large flat screen TV, big window with blackout curtains, loveseat, desk, coffee machine, clock radio, stand up shower, and about a million lighting options (which was kind of a pain to figure out how to turn them all off at first). It does have the modern style glass doors on the bathroom (shower and main door) which let the bathroom light out and bother the person with you who's still sleeping. The hallways and decor outside the room are dated and dark but that wasn't important to me. The hotel was very quiet which was good!! Can't speak for pool or spa as I never got around to using those.

Dear Kara M,

We are truly grateful for your willingness to tell the world how you enjoyed your stay with us. Our new remodeled rooms are offer all the amenities you expect while maintaining a cozy urban chic feeling. Regretfully when they built the building in the late 1950's they did not include a pool into their designs, but our concierge would be happy to recommend one of the local gyms which have pools available for a small fee. We hope to see you again soon.

Regards,

My room was comfortable and clean. Hotel has a great location and is connected by skywalk to the snazzy Brown Palace Hotel. Front desk staff was very helpful. Price was reasonable. Very pleased overall.

Front desk lady was ok, as was room and hotel. Very close to Denver's very nice central bar and restaurant area. Reasonable price. Hot breakfast not that hot and a bit limited but you get what you pay for!

You can't beat this location if you want to be in the center of things! Just literally a hop, skip and a jump from the 16th Street walking mall, restaurants and bars, everything is right here! Very accommodating & polite staff. Rooms were nice, basic but clean. Had 3 nights here and the (included) breakfast was very drab and exactly the same every day. You get what you pay for, I guess. But all things considered, I would stay here again.

We stayed here for one night following a flight from the uk. On arrival despite checking the reservations before departure one of our party was not on the room list. This was quickly rectified and in fact they ended up with the best room and view on the 18th floor. This was a spacious and modern end room. The other rooms on the 6th and 9th floors were small and dated although clean. One of our party was unwell and required medical centre attention and this was quickly arranged by the concierge who also took the member of the party to the medical centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast ok but served on paper plates with plastic cutlery. This hotel served its purpose for a quick stopover.

My four friends from Holland and I spent four nights in a two-bedroom, two-bath, one living room corner suite on the 20th floor. The arrangement was comfortable and the room rate was quite reasonable. It was a nice place to return to after a day of exploring the city or the nearby Rocky Mountains.

However, two off-notes marred the experience somewhat: (1) the air conditioning couldn't maintain a consistent overnight temperature in the bedrooms (it was either too cold or too stuffy) and (2) for some bizarre (and unexplained) reason none of the three phones in the suite ever worked, despite our persistent complaints. To their credit, on the third morning, the hotel offered to move us to another suite for the remaining two nights in lieu of an engineering solution. (As we'd already settled in, we declined.) Further, after I'd confessed to being frankly amazed that they had no explanation for not dealing with the phones despite my calling it to their attention early on in our stay as well as during two subsequent visits to the front desk, they made a substantial adjustment in our parking garage fees.

I like this hotel, having stayed here before. The staff are friendly. The valet parking is fast and professional. The location is handy (an easy walk to the wonderful 16th St. Mall). The room prices provide great value. And the adjacency to the magnificent Brown Palace is a huge plus. But I'm still curious about what was up with the totally dead phones that couldn't be easily fixed. Perhaps they're taking to notion that everybody has his own cell phone FAR too seriously.

Room Tip: Corner rooms offer more interesting exterior views and in-room furniture arrangements.
