We spent 9 days here in July 2012 and thus got to know the hotel fairly well, wrinkles and all!

Best parts: very convenient location, rooms designed and laid out well (very functional and modern with ample space for clothes, luggage); excellent breakfast fare; superb gym (very clean, very professional equipment); responsible policy on changing linens (new linen only every 3 days unless you ask for more frequent changes); staff very friendly and responsive.

Wrinkles: wireless connection extremely spotty--only worked when sitting on bed farthest from the desk and even then flickered on/off! Staff thought the problem was the router and promised to reset, but if they did (we were never told), there was no difference throughout the week. Problems also with the self-serve coffee maker in the room--we had to ask for coffee and creamers to be sent up to room at least 5 of the 9 days. Housekeeping seemed to neglect replacing our coffee service daily. One morning in fact, we found the previous morning's wet coffee grounds still in the machine (yech!). Next, despite responsible linen service, the housekeeping staff didn't always get it right, twice not changing linens when requested. Finally, A/C in our corner room with huge windows to the sun had trouble keeping room cool in daytime (but not serious since we spent the days elsewhere).

These were vexing problems, to be sure, but to be honest, they were not overwhelming. We will probably stay there again when we return to Denver.

Room Tip: Get a corner room. Nice view overlooking streets of Denver.

We arrived late in the evening after our flight from the UK,we were greeted with a friendy smile from the reception staff, the room was clean and a good size with a two seat sofa, the bed was very comfortable with good bed linen, the bathroom was a good size with an excellent large shower, with lovely soft towels.
Unfortunately the walls in the hotel must be on the thin side as you could hear people talk and the tv from other rooms.
The down side to the hotel was breakfast,to eat my breakfast off cardboard plates and bowls is really not our thing to do,scrambled eggs and hash browns were cold, with luke warm bacon, there were other things to have but nothing to shout about, the restaurant was small for the size of the hotel.
Would i stay in this hotel again is yes,but not for breafast.

First of all, we didn't book this hotel - it came as the first night of our coach tour around the National Parks and canyon lands.

The staff were pleasant and gave us access to our room really early which was a big help to us. The room itself is clean but not in a modern style however it had all we needed for the night.

The bathroom, again, clean but no flash faucets or spa etc and again, a basic room which was functional and suited our needs.

Breakfast was included in our booking and we were told that prior to 7.15am only a continental style breakfast would be served, ie, no hot food until after then. We had a lot of choice really - various pastries, breads, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt etc. The breakfast room under normal circumstances would seat a number of people, however with 44 people from the coach plus other guests, we spilled out to the lounge area.

The hotel is close to the mall area of Denver where the free shuttle runs the length of the street. There are lots of choices for eating - from Johnny Rockets to restaurants that serve food and drink.

Room Tip: We were on Floor 14 and had no issues with noise etc

We have never stayed at a Comfort Inn but read good things here about this property so decided to call and speak with the reservation person onsite. That call was a great experience and he offered to be sure we were in a newly updated room so I went ahead and booked our 4 night stay. Upon arrival the hotel is pleasant, well located and clean. During our stay we encountered very nice staff and room service was good too. But the room - upgraded or not - was well not a place you'd want to stay for 4 nights. The room temperature was never comfortable, the bathroom is the smallest possible and the noise was horrible. Every cough or voice or alarm or telephone could be heard - one time I stepped outside to realize the telephone conversation I was hearing was actually 2 rooms down the hall! Even though we were on a high floor the horn honking, fire trucks, 3 am trains and early early morning trash pick up were like they were inside our room. Clearly the exterior walls are as paper thin as the interior walls. The rate was fair but the noise and air conditioning problems were too big to be able to give this more than an average rating.

Room Tip: Elevators are slow at certain times of the day, because there are only two. If you choose a high fl...

Management response:Responded July 8, 2012

Dear BuddyDoggie,
I sincerely appreciate your comments about your stay. I regret that your room’s temperature was not to your liking and for the interruption you faced from the city noise. I hope that in some way the cities sounds reminded you of how close you were staying to hundreds of activities and restaurants. I would be honored if you would contact me personally so I may make arrangements for you on your next trip to the Denver.
Yours truly,
Brandt Ellwood

I stayed at the Comfort Suite Downtown in Denver in April and had a great experience - my room was more than comfortable and the staff was extremely accomodating. I ran into an issue where my rental car was damaged int he parking garage and the hotel staff, particularly Jake, went out of his way to resolve the issue with the rental company. Great experiecne and exceptional service.

If the weather is warm, the air conditioning at this facility cannot cope. Our room varied from 72 to 75 degrees during our 3 day stay. (From what others I heard in the elevator, ours was not the only room like this.) I did mention it to management and they said they'd "turn up our fan", which I thought would fix it. Their 'fix' made no difference.

Another note, being among other glass-walled high rises, the sun was reflected into our windows no matter the time of day, and the window treatments couldn't compensate.

Otherwise it was a very nice room and bath, a bit overcrowded with furniture.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Comfort Inn Downtown. The location can't be beat. There was a glitch when we arrived in that our reservation could not be found. I had booked a good price on-line, not at the Choice Hotels website. The desk agent was great. She put us in a beautiful room and said it would be figured out by the manager when he was on duty. It did get figured out, but we had been given a king room on floor 22 (top floor) with sweeping views of downtown. The bathrooms are being renovated and we got one that had been redone. It was very, very nice. The corner rooms are best because they have windows that go around the corner.

Very excellent mattress, perhaps the best we ever had in a hotel.

Excellent internet access, connected or wireless.

Breakfast is good. There are hot items every morning.

Every staff person we came in contact with was gracious and helpful.

We highly recommend the Comfort Inn Downtown.

Room Tip: Corners, because of the expanse of windows.
