“Downtown convenience at a reasonable price”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

We spent a recent weekend in Denver visiting family and checking out the Van Gogh exhibit. We booked the room through Hotwire knowing that it would be the Sheraton by the description. I have stayed here in the past and found it to be a very convenient location. Between walking and 16th bus, one can easily get to theaters, Larimer shopping, Coors Field, LoDo, Capitol, etc.

For me, most of the rooms have been nice but not 4 star. The bathrooms tend to be small but the sleeping area is fine with desk for laptop. We had a nice view this time and could see holiday lights from nearby buildings. While the room is not really 4 star, the lobby, gym, restaurant/bar, and location make this an excellent choice.

The star attraction for me is the gym facility. Even though it is a bit confusing underground passage to Tower rooms, I like to stay in Tower so that I can take elevator directly to gym. The gym is large, has a street level view to provide interest during workout, and has everything one needs for a thorough workout. It is really nice. If you enjoy working out every day, this hotel is a solid choice. They also had a large matted area for my yoga.

We came by car and this hotel is appreciated for its $24 a day parking with in and out self-park privileges while we mix family time, shopping, and enjoying downtown amenities. The hotel has a nice bar along 16th St. that makes it easy to meet people staying elsewhere or to watch a game on tv. There are any number of good restaurants nearby and restaurants in the hotel as well.

It was very busy when we checked in, but the young lady helping us took time to make sure we had what we needed and understood the layout of facility. The connection to the Tower requires going underground or across a busy street so most people go underground and through conference area to get to Tower and that results in confusion for some people. I do not find it to be a big deal but did see some folks wandering around downstairs seemingly lost. When going to street level, one merely walks in and out at street level. Not a big deal once you get used to it and it is actually more convenient for those using self-parking.

Room Tip: If you like to work out, stay in the Tower to take elevator directly to gym.

I stayed at the Sheraton Denver hotel on business. It was a hotel that had a block of rooms reserved for the conference. The location is very convenient: close to shops and restaurants. r Although, the conference I attended, had shuttle buses available, it was totally unnecessary as the hotel is located a short walk away from the convention center. The rooms were pretty standard for a chain. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. They supplied bottles of water which is helpful given the altitude and the necessity to drink water constantly. Internet worked fine with no problems. Access to some of the hotel rooms is a bit odd. In some cases, you will need to go from the lobby and DOWN the elevator and walk across the ballrooms to get to another set of elevators to your room. Of course, it really depends on which building of the Sheraton Denver you happen to be staying in. The fitness facility was terrific, with lots of cardio equipment, weights etc. The fitness centre looks out onto the street level which is nice to get some natural light. Just inside the lobby of the hotel is a Peets Coffee where you can grab something quick to eat before running to your conference session. The hotel is also located outside the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall which has a free Mall bus, making convenient stops along the way to shops, malls etc. including a wonderful bookstore called the "Tattered Cover." All in all a good standard chain hotel.

This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel in the last couple of years. It is an older building that used to be the Adams Mark, but we were pleasantly surprised both times. While the rooms are small, they are nicely updated, have comfortable beds, and the fixtures are in great condition. What we really enjoyed both times we stayed here was the exceptional service. The front desk staff, as well as the bell staff and valets, really made us feel like they were happy to have us there.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 16th street mall side have a good view.

My wife and I stayed at the Denver Downtown Sheraton over a 5 day extended party weekend for our 5th Anniversary, flying in from Canada. Our check-in was understated, and we thought we could have heard more about the hotel and its amenities, and the area… but it was pleasant, and we figured everything out the first day. We had booked early on an Expedia package, but the girl gave us an upgraded Mountainview King room in the Tower building with a little mention of our situation. Nice.

I had read here about the rooms being on the small side, as well as the bathrooms, and they were, but the room was clean, modern and all we needed. I don't understand people complaining about size, when it is just a place to come back to when on vacation. We enjoyed our view, and the room as a whole. The bed was amazing. The location is perfect. Right on the mall, and every day we would hop on the free shuttle up 16th Mall, or walk to different restaurants, bars and shops. I also read about confusion on finding the Tower building/rooms, but we thought it couldn't have been easier. A 30 second walk across the street to the elevators of the Tower, or a 1-2 minute walk if you go under. We would just walk to the tower building at street level, and it couldn't have been easier. People complained about having to scan your room card in the hotel? Don't understand that. Takes a second, and isn't the little bit of safety that provides worth a second or two?

I would totally recommend this hotel, but there were a couple small critiques. One would be no mini fridge in the room. We were out for lunch/dinner every night (with a late night panzerotti delivery one night!), and a place to put doggie-bags/leftovers/room drinks would have been nice. Also, as many have said, free internet would have been nice to research activities for the day. How can this not be included in this day In age? And, there is no vent in the bathroom, that is always nice. But, all In all it was a great experience and we would recommend the downtown Sheraton hotel to everyone.

I stay here quite often and have become so good at naming your own price on priceline that I always get this hotel at significant discounts. Great location, great rooms, and very large hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others but I would strongly urge you to name your own price on priceline unfortunately.

This was our second time staying at this Sheraton. I have no complaints about the room and bathrooms other than they are a bit small and outdated. The higher rooms will have better views, as they clear the buildings next door. For the price, it's the best deal in downtown Denver in my opinion. 16th street Mall is practically right outside the door and you can take the free Mall ride up and down it to wherever you need to go. The only complaint is that the line to check in was quite long and we were already late to a function they were having on the lower level. Once you check in, you'll have to walk across the street via indoor walkway to another set of elevators. Not a dealbreaker, but not the easiest check in experience. Overall, we do recommend it.
The Irish restaurant next door is pretty grim though, so I would check out more of what Denver has to offer a little bit down on 16th street. Marlowe's has a great atmosphere and is reasonably priced.

Room Tip: A higher floor

The rooms are bigger and offer a comfortable sitting area. We apologize for the delay you experienced at check-in. We can assure you that typically the process is more efficient than what your experienced. We invite you to return so we can prove that what you experienced is not the norm.

We upgraded to a corner suite cause we were going to be there for several days and had our 2 kids with us...good idea gave you PLENTY of room to spread out. The lay out was odd and the hotel was in two buildings which took you a while to figure your way around.
As for the room, it was fine...the bed was super comfy...2 TVS which was nice, a desk, etc. it was worth the extra cost for us to have the room. My main problem with the room was the bathroom it had to be the smallest bathroom I have EVER been in...no more than one person could fit in there. When you have a family of four somethings two people will get ready at once...not happening here...if you were on the "throne", the door could not be opened it would have hit your knees. Granted, I am not going to live here but it was so small it was almost uncomfortable...there was not even enough room to put my 2 make-up bags on the counter...but again, it wasn't the end of the world.
The other issue we had was with the parking deck...it was AWFUL! You used your room key to get in and out...well ours never worked when we wanted to leave, so we had to wait 10-15 minutes each time we wanted to leave to have an atttendant come down to let us out. We even had our keys re-done and they still didn't work...said they were having a problem with the parking system...maybe the solution was to leave the gate OPEN!
I was also displeased with management for 2 reasons...I know that my son left his DSI in the room and we called and asked about it and they said they would look into it and call us back...still haven't gotten a call...guess someone took it...hate to assume that, but I am 99% sure it was left there.
Second disappointment was that the day we were checking out happened to be the day the Bronco's had a home game...so the line to check in/out was awful yet the staff at the front desk was severly understaffed...come-on...you had to know about the game, your hotel is in Denver this can't be a new thing. People that want to check in were getting frustrated because they wanted to get to the game and people that wanted to check out had flights to catch or, like us, were just ready to get out of the city!
I will say the location and price of the hotel were good. Location was right in the middle of everything that we wanted to do downtown...

Dear love2go-va: We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your overall stay with us and that your suite was comfortable for your family. During your next stay you might want to consider utilizing our convenient valet service. We apologize for the delay in getting back to you regarding your sons' DSI. Please connect with our security team again as they manage all lost and found items. We will do our best to locate the item for your son. Additionally, we apologize for the wait at check out. We can assure you that typically that process is much more efficient.
