“Older Downtown Hotel”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

The typical downtown business or meeting hotel. Dated rooms that are quiet clean and a place to crash. Nice location on the 16th Street Mall walking distance to convention center. Service adequate. On site restaurants were noisy crowded. The lobby restaurant which has gotten mediocre reviews was a quiet oasis with a reasonable menu.
The refusal of maid service for a $5 credit was a nice touch
The price seems average for other convention hotels in the area. But those had nicer rooms closer locations often more amenities.
When will american hotels learn about WiFi? The price is high for a very slow very sporadic connection, hardly up to todays technical age. The Starbucks across the street is a better bet for free WiFi

Lets start with the pro's: good location. Good lobby bar and restaurant.

Cons:
The hotel is dated and showing it's age.
The extra charge for en suite internet is infuriating. Lobby wifi is at best, erratic. When will high end hotels realize the Comfort Inn at half the price down the street offers complimentary breakfast and Wifi in the room, included int he price of the hotel?
No fridge in room- this is just ridiculous.
Rooms are small.
Took a shower, turned the handle for hot water and a screw fell out of the wall. I must say this is a first.

Attempted to split the credit card charges at checkout between my roommate and I. The clerk at the front desk told me she has to call the accounting department and THEY WILL CALL ME BACK. It would not be for several days until I knew for sure whether the charges will go through appropriately on the credit cards. This is downright unacceptable- it is a convention hotel, and I cannot imagine this being the first time this request came up.

Dear diverUsa: We are pleased to hear you enjoyed 16Mix and 15|Fifty Restaurant during your stay, though it is disappointing to hear the rest of your stay did not meet your expectations. We can assure you that our price for Internet is competitive in the downtown Denver marketplace. During your next stay please feel free to let us know you would like a refrigerator and a member of our team will be happy to provide one for you at no charge. Please take a moment and connect with us at 03205.socialmedia@sheraton.com to let us know more about your reservation so we can have a member of our team address your concern regarding the screw on the shower. Additionally, we apologize for the confusion regarding payment for your stay. We certainly hope the situation has been resolved; however, if you are still attempting to resolve the charges please feel free to connect with us directly. Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We hope you will give us the opportunity to prove that what you experienced is not the norm.

Was in for a conference trip. Stayed for few nights.
Very good location, was able to walk to Denver Convention Center within 5 to 7 mins. All the shopping downstairs along the 16th. Feels safe within in hotel.
Nice bed and generally friendly staff.
Good program that allows refusal to make up the room and receive a $5 F&B coupon in return for saving resources.
Safe is big enough to put in a small laptop or ipad. Useful vanity mirror in the bath. Water flow is very good.

The downside: no toothbrush and shaving amenities - I guess have to ask, the air conditioner is very noisy with a buzzing sound. It didn't work to warm the room when I first arrived but they fixed it after I complained. Thereafter it was OK but the noise is still there. Didn't ask a change of room as I am a deep sleeper but someone else might not tolerate it.

The Sheraton Denver Downtown is an I.M. Pei design and although I hope it has been renovated since it was designed and built "50" years ago some of the flaws are fundamental. In the Tower the rooms and corridors were claustrophobic with low ceilings in the corridors, small sleeping rooms and bathrooms more suited to a cruise ship than a business hotel. The main room was barely 13 x 15 and with a king bed the quarters were a bit tight. There was a useful work area with a plethora of outlets for different functions and a small chest with three drawers for clothing but the night tables were just that, tables, with no drawers. There was no mini-fridge, nor was there room for one.
The mirrored closet would have been large enough but almost half the floor space was occupied by the safe on a pedestal. Not only did this limit the floor space but the safe was high enough to interfere with hanging clothes.
The bathroom........the mirror did not fog. The room was useless unless the door was closed because of the size. The tub had a strongly countoured floor that made footing uncomfortable, there was just too much slope toward the center. There was a single sink and enough stone countertop to be functional. They provided a hair dryer and a magnifying mirror as well as the typical toiletries.
Bed linens were fine, and there were four king-size pillows; more than enough to meet my needs. Towels were adequate, large enough to wrap around my waist and of a quality expected at a lower-middle tier hotel. Even in an "upgraded" room there was no robe.

Room Tip: Even number rooms, with enough elevation, give a view of the mountains. Low number rooms give a vie...

Dear Bob K: Thank you for your detailed comments about your experience with us. A few of our guests, who are not as familiar with the history of our I.M.Pei Tower and it’s famous architect, may feel as you did. The guestrooms were, however, part of a $70M renovation along with the rest of the hotel and being a historic building at times may not seem as apparent. During your next stay, please let us know hoe we can make you feel more comfortable. We hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you again soon.

Ask for a corner room with a mountain view. The room is large and very quiet location. Hotel is starting to show its age but is clean. Bed is comfortable. Self parking is on 15th Ave - little difficult to Yard House restaurant has a great beer selection and an interesting menu.

Room Tip: Corner room with mountain view

I must admit, I was neither impressed nor disgusted by my stay at this hotel. I just was not "wow'd." Of course the location was amazing with Yard's Brewery on the first floor and 16th street and all it offers right around the corner. But my room, a king, was average at best. This goes for the amenities and bathroom as well. For the cost - $195 a night, I felt a little ripped off. Honestly the rooms need some new carpet and furniture. Fortunately I did not stay too long in my room. If I were to ever vacation in Denver I would NEVER stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: The higher floor the better.

Just returned from a conference in Denver.

I was upgraded for $25.00 a night to a suite on the14th floor. Definitely worth it:
Beautiful surround view of Denver, excellent service, nice sitting room, and central location--would definitely stay here again.
Staff was accommodating and i did not hear/ smell any of the noise/ smell described by ygray--possibly because the tower I was in was different? Room was pristine and shower looked freshly painted. I guess, just double check with hotel front desk upon check-in. My stay was excellent!

Room Tip: suite in the newer tower
