The Timbers Hotel
Ranked #110 of 160 Hotels in Denver
Reviewed June 8, 2006

We traveled to Denver over Memorial Day weekend and stayed at The Timbers Hotel near the Denver Airport. It used to be an old Best Western and is now privately flagged so it is not plush nor does it have any type of water amenities(no pool, sauna or hot tubs) and our room only came with a shower, no bath tub.
On the other hand, the suites were huge, a large livingroom, kitchen, master bedroom and the it was very comfortably furnished. It was also quite affordable and made a nice launch point to go to the Zoo(+++), the Botanical Gardens(+++), and Denver's enjoyable downtown. The wireless reception is poor and the business center is okay but overused.
We printed out the Best of Denver for Everything and had great food and site seeing all weekend. The Timbers also made it quick and easy to get to the airport. A few blocks away the neighborhood gets a little dicey so I would not do too many late evening walks.
The restaraunt in the hotel however had incredible food, as good or better than most of what we had at the "best" restaraunts in town. For extended business sans computer, this place is great, wireless in the lobby was very good, so it gets an above average overall rating. Add a pool and good wireless and this place could be incredible.

We stayed at the Timbers (based on the reccommendations at TripAdvisor) and were completely satisfied. This was a great place to hunker down for a night before our return flight the next day without getting gouged by airport high hotel prices (15 min. drive to DIA). The property has all-suite rooms (half height fridge and micro/coffee maker) with feather-top pillows and high-speed internet access in rooms. The complimentary breakfast was very good. (scrambled eggs/cheese, assorted breads/danishes, cereals, fruit, Gevalia coffee, hashbrowns etc.) For $89.00 on Orbitz & Travelocity you could not beat the price! Nice decor, but landscaping needs some work. There is a balcony or patio but no furniture and some views are of the highway in the distance but for the money you can't beat it! Comfortable beds, clean rooms breakfast & wi-fi don't blow twice the money at Embassy Suites! (managers cocktail is weekdays only, nice lounge area, like a mountain lodge) Staff young (kind of inexperienced) but friendly. Note: The only restaurants (besides one on property which we did not try) are all fast-food up and down Peoria St. get on the I-70E and head toward the airport (2 exits) for the Applebees or Chicago Grill. If you need anything fancier make sure to ask at the desk, not much around except Ronald McDonald. Go with the reviews, you can't go wrong! (they even give you a pkg of microwavable popcorn in the room...defibrillator not included....smile....) Accross the street looks like an abandoned shopping mall but is actually a industrial park of sorts.

Wow it was terrible. Never in my life will I ever stay there again. The room service was also terrible. A woman who's name I am not going to say slapped me for telling her she forgot my bacon.

Just stayed at The Timbers, a new hotel at 4411 Peoria St, Denver. Formerly a Best Western, it closed, changed owners, and then underwent a $16-million overhaul and reopened last June as an independent, all-suite hotel.
Wow! What a great place they have created! I almost hate to mention it, because I don't want to have to compete for a suite next time I need to stay there. But I was so impressed I believe they deserve public praise, and I recommend it enthusiastically to anyone who needs to stay in Denver for pleasure or business, especially on the north side or close to DIA.
A pleasant hotel stay starts at the front desk, and The Timbers has done an outstanding job training their staff. All employees I spoke with were friendly, well-trained, helpful, professional, and knew the answers to all my questions.
Just a stone's throw north of I-70 at the Peoria exit, The Timbers is unusually quiet inside from careful insulation. I didn't hear any traffic noise at all.
With studio, one- and two-bedroom suites averaging more than 700 square feet, it's a very posh place to stay, but with very motel-like pricing. I have stayed in standard motel rooms around Denver for more money but with less features.
The Timbers offers:
- A blend of traditional western and modern decor, very tastefully done.
- Very comfortable beds with 3" pillow-topped mattresses and high quality pillows.
- Complimentary parking while away from Denver and a complimentary airport shuttle.
- Fully equipped kitchenettes.
- Large, flat-screen TV with VCR and DVD player.
- Free, high-speed wireless internet.
- Security in the parking lot 24/7.
- Quality furnishings and art.
- Large, well-equipped fitness center.
- Business office with two computers for guests.
- Complimentary, hot breakfast buffet with real food (not pre-packaged frozen stuff).
- Complimentary hot hors d'ouvres and beverages every evening.
- A secure, landscaped central courtyard.
It's within 15 minutes of the terminals at DIA and downtown Denver.
The Timbers own Peoria Grill boasts a chef formerly with The Broadmoor, a famous resort in Colorado Springs. I ate lunch and dinner at the grill and was hugely impressed with the wonderful food and professional, friendly staff. I would eat there if in the neighborhood even if I wasn't staying at The Timbers!
They also have a large, well-equipped conference room for special events.
Clean, comfortable, safe, convenient, economical -- all these apply to The Timbers.
Will I stay there again? It's my new "home" in Denver! I'll not stay anywhere else as long as they keep their act together.
Thanks, Timbers!

Superlatives fail when writing of this hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the bed was superb, the standard of cleanliness was excellent, the small, free, business centre was well equipped, a coffee maker, micro-wave and even popcorn were provided in the bedroom, the complimentary breakfast included warm as well as cold food and, best of all, the staff were genuinely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The pick-up from the airport by the hotel's van, and the later return there, was managed by a cheerful and very cooperative driver and when we wished to go into town one evening, and the van was not otherwise required, we were dropped down to the centre on a pure goodwill basis. The only regret was not staying longer and not having the opportunity to sample what looked like an equally good restaurant. All this was against a price that seemed too good - too low - to be true. This would be a wonderful hotel for a family on a touring holiday.

Because of my work I have stayed in literally hundreds of hotels around the world. The Timbers stands out as one of the very best I have stayed in anywhere and the staff and management deserve every credit - and every success. It would be wonderful to see clones of The Timbers appear elsewhere - though I doubt if enough equally motivated and friendly people are available to allow it!

I found Timbers amazing. From the location, if you found basic comfort, you'd be happy. But this place has style, cache, friendly and helpful staff. What's it doing where it is? Who cares? it's terrific. The pillow-top mattresses are like the best of the Westin's. The rooms, especially the suites, are huge, and the kitchens are full kitchens with high end appliances (Danby stainless). Out here you'd expect a restaurant like Denny's or Appleby's. Instead, you get several stars- a rapidly changing (it's been different every time I stayed here-four times now) sophisticated menu, with meat, seafood, fusion dishes, presented with sophistication and style. Overall, I give the place a WOW. The fitness center has now opened- it's large and light and well-equipped. The swimming pool is under construction. This place is definitely a find.
