“If only every hotel or B&B were like this!”

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever had a better stay than our recent stay at Castle Marne. My wife and I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, so we weren't quite sure what to expect exactly. But our stay here more than exceeded our wildest expectations.

The Castle itself is a beautiful old sandstone manor house that was lovingly restored by the current owners after years of abandonment. They salvaged as much of the original everything as they could and repaired and replaced what they couldn't. The house itself is on a quite quiet side street not far from downtown Denver and is well located for seeing things in the core of the city. The furniture and decor of the house is largely period appropriate and feels instantly comfortable and familiar, like staying in your grandmothers house. The rooms themselves vary from cozy to gigantic with various appointments, but all the rooms are immactulately clean and well kept. We stayed in the Melissa room, which one of the smaller rooms but it was quite comfortable for my wife and I. Unless you're on a tight budget I'd definitely recommend spending a little bit more for a bigger room though, not because there was anything wrong with the room we were in but just because the bigger rooms are just that much more interesting and unique. We had the opportunity to see some of the other suites as part of the Open Denver event and were just blown away by how beautiful the whole house was. The highlight is definitely the stained glass peacock, visible from outside of the house when lit from inside. An original installation from when the house was built, it's a beautiful peace of artwork and a neat place to sit and hang out for a little. There's also a well tended and beautiful little garden around the house that would be a lovely place to spend some time when the weather is nice.

The staff at the Castle Marne were all amazing to deal with. There's 3 generations of family working here, and the employees all care just as much as the owners and their family that your stay is comfortable and that every detail is taken care of. We ended up getting a lot of good recomendations for things to see and do from the staff, and we could have spent hours hanging around talking chatting with everybody working there. From afternoon high tea to late night coffee and cookies, puzzles and board games and opportunities to mingle with the other guests or spend time on your own, there's something for everyone here. The breakfasts were delicious with lots of edibles coming from the garden of the house, fresh home made baked goods and coffee and were highly enjoyable.

Our stay at Castle Marne was definitely a highlight of our trip, and if we're back in Denver again we will most definitely be back.

Room Tip: My one recommendation for staying at Castle Marne would be to be aware of the layout of the house...

What can we say other than Thank You for your wonderful review. We are quite humbled and touched that you shared such lovely details about your stay. All 3 generations of the family and our staff truly love what we do here.

The Doors Open Denver event you mentioned is a great way to see historic buildings throughout the city over a two day celebration of Denver. How wonderful that you got to stay with us and go on the tour too. Our story is a great one and we are pleased to be included in the city wide tour.

As far as our renovation goes we never get tired of telling the history of the Castle. It's a classic riches to rags and back to riches story. When the Castle "found" us, she was 8 years abandoned, trashed, neglected and water damaged from frozen and burst water pipes. We were overwhelmed and couldn't imagine how we could ever save her. But she had chosen us to bring her back from the brink. With lots of love, hard work, sweat and tears we have the Grand Dame of 16th Ave. as our fabulous Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast.

It is our pleasure to share her with guests like you. The next time you are down this way in the lower 48, we'd love to have you back.

Warmest Regards,
Melissa and the family and staff of Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I stayed at Castle Marne for our anniversary weekend. We were blown away by the house and the staff! We stayed in the Van Cise room and its really romantic. Also, it has a private hot tub on the porch perfect after a long day sight seeing. If you're looking for a real Colorado gem, then look no further!

Room Tip: For pure romance and cozy comfort choose the Van Cise room

How lovely, you called us an "Enchanted castle". Who wouldn't like to spend a romantic night in an enchanted castle? The Van Cise room is my favorite room too. Did you know that it was originally the Ladies Upstairs Parlour? The Castle Marne was a 6000 sq. ft. two bedroom house! The whole 3rd floor was the Ball Room for the mansion.

When you come back we'll share more of the Castle's history. We love telling the house's story.

Until that time,

Melissa

Castle Marne is an amazingly beautiful B and B. Wonderfully restored and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the breakfasts were great. Located in conveniently located residential neighborhood it is surrounded by many great houses. We would highly recommend Castle Marne for a great stay in Denver

Thank you for sharing your experience of the Castle Marne with future TripAdvisor guests. We appreciate your comments about the great location. As you mentioned we are convienently located within a few blocks of so much to do; great dining, museums, the botanical gardens and much more. We love recommending a walk about dusk, to enjoy all the beautiful architecture of the Victorian era. It's like stepping back in time to a gentler, less frantic time in Denver's rich history.

Please come back and we'll send you off to Cheesman Park to see the beautiful views of downtown Denver and the mountains beyond. The stunning and historic homes around the park are certain to amaze you.

Until we see you again, be well.

We had a great time at the Castle Marne. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and were pleasently surprised with everything about this place. We are not much into B&Bs but really enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were accomodating, friendly and helpfut. The room was great. It was well restored, clean and quiet. The entire castle was nicely restored and very well kept and clean. The hosts were easy to visit with and engauged in enjoyable conversation. The afternoon tea was nice and the breakfast very good. We plan to return again soon.

What an incredible B&B. Just finished my 4 night stay and cannot give a higher recommendation. The home itself is stunning. The outside is a beautiful stone. The inside is meticulously renovated to reflect the time period when it was built. Ask Louie or Melissa about the history of the building and you will be surprised. It sat falling apart for 8 years with no owners. This family purchased the home, had to strip it down to the bare minimum then rebuild it using the the original materials that had been removed for renovation. You can see the amount of love they have put into it. Everything is in it's place. When you are there be sure to ask them about the fireplace in the main sitting room, and about the huge stained glass window on the landing. You won't be disappointed. The breakfast is top notch with hand made everything including bread, muffins and egg dishes. It is worth every penny and more. The innkeepers are very calm people, and that feeling emanates through the entire house leaving you with a sense of peace everywhere you go. If you will be in Denver, then you need to be at the Castle Marne.

Room Tip: Van Cise room or the Presidential Suite. Really though, you can't go wrong with any of the room...

What a lovely review, you actually brought tears to my eyes. It is a pleasure having guests like you stay with us. If ever we forget why we open our home to folks from all over the world, it's guests like you that remind us that we love what we do. Thank you! Renovating this building and turning it into a bed and breakfast is our family's dream come true.

On behalf of the whole family, it is our pleasure to share our dream with people like you. Come back and see us again soon.

We stayed in the Raymond Room, which is a small, cozy room with a very large private balcony and hot tub. We only had one night to get away from our kids and couldn't have picked a better place. Everyone was so friendly, and no one minded that we were out on the balcony until all hours of the night (although, I wouldn't say we were horribly loud). Breakfast was delicious - much more than I expected. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: I marked Swimming pool as excellent, but I mean the hot tub.

Thank you for spending your night away from the kids at Castle Marne. The Raymond room is small, but just as you noted, the big private balcony and private hot tub are great. Glad you found some much needed time to yourselves, we're just a phone call away for your next romantic get-away. Next time think about joining us for a candlelight dinner for two in the private Peacock Dining Room. It's romantic and just the two of you.

Until the next night away from the kids, we look forward to seeing you again.
