Owner description: Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art is temporarily closed as we relocate to a new golden building in Denver’s Golden Triangle. Kirkland Museum’s Grand Opening is scheduled for March 10, 2018. The museum’s new building will offer visitors an enhanced experience with more display space while staying true to the salon style and intimate atmosphere for which the Kirkland is known. The museum’s three collections are: • International Decorative Art—A celebrated collection including notable examples of every major design period from Arts & Crafts to Postmodern. • Colorado & Regional Art—The largest repository of art showcasing the state and region’s talent, concentrating on the 1850s through the 1990s with about 7,000 works more than 700 artists. • Vance Kirkland Retrospective—Kirkland (1904–1981) is generally considered Colorado’s most distinguished modern painter. About 550 paintings and about 600 drawings and prints are held in his estate collection.

Vance Kirkland was a wonderful painter and this museum, which includes his studio, should not be missed by any art lover. Knocked my socks off. I didn't know anything about it until I saw in mentioned in Travel Advised. What a great experienced.

I love decorative arts and here is a fine collection. However, the showcase of pieces are in a bit of disarray: they are within glass cases and well labeled but had they been chronologically showcased, there would be a better understanding how decorative sets evolved. Museums not only preserve but teach the public. There were no lessons learned but a collection from an artist whose own work was less than mediocre.

This is an amazing museum with the most unique collection I have seen. Not only do you have history in the art but the museum itself has a fascinating history. Some things are beautiful, some things are unique, some things just make you go hhhmmm... I don't visit museums often, but when I do I go to the Kirkland Museum.
