“Perfect little spot for a drink and live music”
Reviewed February 19, 2010

I'm glad we found out about El Chapultepec! This is the kind of spot my friends and I like to hang out in and we had one night in Denver. Our server at Wynkoop Brewery gave us 2 reccomendations, and when she said El Chapultepec was a dive bar with live jazz we said "Where is it?!". It was a Sunday night, so the place was practically empty but the band was having fun and sounded good. Full bar, live music, no cover charge (not sure if that's always the case)...what more could you ask for??

“Dive Bar with Class!!”
Reviewed January 18, 2010

At first glance, you think this is just a dive bar....but as soon as the music starts, you know this is something special. A lot of music greats have passed through El Chapultepec over many years. Very un-pretentious, friendly, and non assuming. Reasonable drink prices and inexpensive Mexican based appetizer menu. Try to play pool if you dare. Recommended!

“Our favorite jazz spot in Denver”
Reviewed June 8, 2009

I guess El Chapultepec is a restaurant, though I really don't remember what the food is like... But the scene and the jazz is a real favorite of ours. The best jazz talent in Denver plays there, and the grungy mexican diner setting somehow enhances the feel of the place for that. And El Chapultepec was cool long before LoDo was even remotely cool, long before its gentrification and the arrival of Coors Field, etc. If you like live jazz in a funky, informal setting, this is a great place to go.

“Best jazz spot”
Reviewed November 13, 2008

This place kicked [-]. My only complaint is they didnt play long enough (the set ended at one). Its one of those places that hasnt changed since 1969. A nice brisk walk from 16th, takes about 15 min. The musicians were seasoned. A quartet consisting of trumpet, piano, drums, and bass guitar. No cover, drink prices average. Get your pricey martinis and liquor BEFORE you get there. They have snacks, but this is definitley an after dinner spot. Great for dates, and noticed plenty of solo-goers. Very relaxed atmosphere. Get there early (eight-ish) to get a spot at the bar.

“Best Taco's Ever!”
Reviewed June 12, 2008

While I'm not much for local Jazz talent, you have to go there just to try their menu items. Hot hot salsa and chips, followed by their famous taco's will have you leaving there fully satiated in your stomach. While the wait staff can be a bit slow as only one person is working, the overall establishment is pretty small, so the wait time isn't /that/ long. You MUST try their taco's, they are very addictive, and makes your trip to Denver complete.
