A fun place to visit. The 'tour' could use some updating and the tour guide could use some training on knowledge, delivery, enthusiasm etc. She stumbled and mumbled through the information and sounded totally bored. The video was old and out-dated. But ~ getting to see the candy being made is interesting and fun for all ages. Free samples are available at the end of the tour and the gift shop is incredible and fun!
You will definitely feel "like a kid in a candy store".

Hammonds has great candy, and it was fun to see how it was made, but for a tour, it was rather short! and of course, if you have young kids.... be prepared for all the crying once they see the candy store and you tell them to choose one thing... There were quite a few criers on our tour which at some times made it hard to hear the guide. They also should update their cameras to color for the tour because when you stand in back and can't see the cameras should allow you to see all the wonderful colors!

Alll in all, the tour guide was great, and it was fun... even for our teenagers.

Where else do you get to see real candy canes made by hand? A fun family event. You can call ahead if you have a large group of 6 or more for a time for a tour. You get a free goodie once the tour is done. (Oh sorry I forgot the free paper hat as you go in to the tour!). There are some good discounts on some candies so keep your eyes peeled in the gift shoppe. They will let you know of some of the tour too. This is the high end candy store (stuff of William Sanomoa, and other really good department stores), the stuff you only wish you could buy. Remember you didnt spend anything on the tour so spoil yourself and the kids in the gift shop.

My mother-in-law has lived in Denver for over 25 years and never knew this gem existed but luckily we found out about it from the Denver Botanical Garden where they sell the lollies. Fun tour with free samples at the end, huge windows to see the candy being made (would help to have closed captioning on the video in the tour for hard of hearing/deaf patrons), lots to choose from in the gift shop. Mitchells Sweets with caramel and marshmallow almost killed me but I wish I could eat a pound at a time. Chocolate filled peppermint candy canes? YUM!

Visited on Dec 22 with my entire family - adults and kids. The tour lasts 30 minutes and includes a short video on the history of the 90 year old local company, a view into the room where they make all the candy with commentary from a tour guide, a walk down a hallway showing pictures and more history, and a look into the area where they hand package all the treats. At the end of the tour we received a full size nutmeg flavored candy cane. Of course the tour ends in the shop. No one can resist all the delicious and visually stunning treats! Everyone we encountered was very friendly. I learned you can also book kids bday parties there as well. Have fun!
