I was surprised to find The Fainting Goat (Denver) not previously listed on tripadvisor. I guess the locals want to keep it a secret. I can see why
I first saw The Fainting Goat listed in Westword (Denver's local weekly source of what's happening). It ranked The Fainting Goat as the Number 2 roof top/patio bar in Denver. Also, The Fainting Goat's website states it won the Best Irish Pub award in 2009 & 2010 (presented by the A List).
The Fainting Goat is located in Denver's Golden Triangle section. It is near Tony's Market ("Denver's premier meat market and gourmet grocer." - from Tony's Market website and the description is accurate in annual rankings of the best in Denver.)
We stopped by The Fainting Goat on Sunday and just missed happy hour. We sat outside on the roof top bar at a corner table near the edge of the roof. The tables were covered with umbrellas to help protect you from the heat.
The crowd was what you'd expect at a local neighborhood bar - relaxed, laughing, and talking to each other and others. Our bartender greeted us with a friendly smile and provided great service to us the whole time.
We had stopped by for a snack and a cold beer after biking that afternoon. We chose the potato skins and were pleased with our order. On the menu is an offering called Irish Nachos (menu says the dish received One of the Top 10 Nacho dishes in Denver). We watched other patrons order the Irish Nachos, hamburgers, and other bar fare. Every table appeared satisfied with their purchases.
The Fainting Goat offers darts, shuffleboard, and good pub food. We came for the roof top bar and thoroughly enjoyed our food, drink, and the bar's vibe. It's a great place to hang out and we'll go again.
