“Family Restaurant - Hungarian Delights”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2012

Went with my sister in law who is Hungarian. Food was very good with personal service. (My sister in law met the owner and had a wonderful conversation in Hungarian with her.) I loved the atmosphere - very homey and warm. Would definitely go back again.

“A lesser known spot of superior quality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2011

We have lived in Denver for many years and this is one of our favorites. When we have out of town visitors, this is one of our top pics of restaurants to showcase Denver cuisine. The more you go, the more you want to go. Hungarian food is hard to come by in Colorado, but even it if were abundant, this would be one of the best restaurants.

Pearl Street is a neighborhood gem, which sets the stage. The owner/chef, Anna, is welcoming and charismatic. You could spend an entire meal chatting with her. Budapest Bistro manages to maintain an under-the-radar feel, while being in the heart of a thriving restaurant district.

The food is elegant, home-style cuisine. Made with love, and your taste buds will love it too. Be sure to try the Langos as an app, and the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls for your main (only served on weekends). On our most recent visit, we tried the "Bulls Blood" wine, a very unique and satisfying red wine blend from Hungary. Fun desserts and after-dinner drinks are a must as well.

We hope you enjoy as much as we do!

“The food is fresh and well prepared and the staff is friendly.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2011

Located in a neighborhood collection of small restaurants and shops, this restaurant is clean and welcoming. We arrived somewhat later in the evening, so they were not busy. The waiter was friendly and helpful throughout and knowledgeable about the dishes we chose. He answered our questions, and even offered some trivia which was entertaining. We started with fried bread which was light and airy. Our entrees were flavorful and beautifully presented, though the spaetzels on my plate were somewhat doughy. Deserts were a challenge as everything sounded delicious. I chose a light custard and orange liqueur dish and my friend chose the ice cream bombe. We agreed both were a perfect finale. After we finished, the chef came out for a brief visit. My friend and I are looking forward to returning to this restaurant the next time we are in Denver.

“Good food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2011

We like to try ethnic resturants when we travel and really enjoyed the Budapest Bistro. We each ordered different dishes so we would have a variety to taste. We were there shortly after opening so it was not busy. Our server was very good and answered all our questions in a friendly manner. We even odered deserts which were very good as well. It sets on a nieghborhood street with shops and street parking. Overall we were pleased and would go back if we return to Denver.

“Family owned and run, the food is very good and the service friendly, if somewhat laid back.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2010

We have been going to this restaurant five to six times a year for about ten years and we love it. If you expect a slick, upscale experience, forget it, but there are many of those forgettable places around. But for good, Hungarian comfort food cooked and served by a authentic Hungarian family in a smallish, but friendly atmosphere, you can't go wrong. We love it and will continue to go back to this eclectic gem!
