Description: Sam’s No. 3™ was the third of five Coney Islands restaurants opened by Sam Armatas during the 1920′s. The original location was at 1527 Curtis Street in the heart of downtown Denver. On Sept. 28th, 1998, Sam’s son, Spero, with his grandsons Sam, Alex, and Patrick, re-established his most famous of the Coney Islands restaurants, Sam’s No. 3™. In honor of the age old tradition, they made a promise to each other to continue to provide excellent quality of food and embrace the inviting, warm atmosphere started by “Mr. Sam” more than 75 years ago!In April 2011, our little kitchen was featured on Food Networks "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives". We were selected because so many local fans had written. A must-stop on any trip to Denver.

This place is apparently packed on weekends but on a Thursday night there was no wait. Had the chicken-fried steak and the open-faced hot turkey sandwich, both generously portioned and classically prepared. Service was efficient and pleasant...we'll be back.

The food was plentiful, the waitstaff was very friendly. It was very close to the hotel. The menu is so vast, we ate there 3 times in 3 days.

We popped in here for breakfast because it was just around the corner from our hotel and we wanted something a bit different to the usual higher priced fare.

Well, it was certainly busy but the efficient lady greeted us and asked us to wait for a few minutes. We strolled round the block in the interim only to return and find we'd already been called. No problem though because we were soon seated with water and coffee plonked in front of us.

Our waiter was friendly and efficient. In the short time it took for our order to arrive we looked on in wonder at the various dishes arriving at tables around us. This obviously a popular place and no wonder. The food was just the job and at an excellent price.

I know where I'll be breakfasting next time I'm in Denver.

A favorite for most trips to Denver! I always get the Greek skillet, yum! Great Bloody Mary's fixed us up!

If you are staying in the downtown Denver area, this is a much better alternative than pricy hotel breakfasts. The wait staff is friendly and the food is freshly prepared.
