Description: Mead St. Station is a local restaurant in the Highlands neighborhood that has been institution for 20 years. We pride ourselves in our hand-crafted pub food and use local and organic products whenever possible. We offer a variety of salads, burgers, ribs and a killer mac n' cheese menu. We have 12 local beers on draft with 2 rotating handles. Come sit back and enjoy a cold one with the Mead St. Family!

“Great Pub Food”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

This restaurant has a fun atmosphere, showcasing art from local artists, and it seems to have booths made from church pews? I loved the booths, regardless if they were from a church or not. The team was VERY friendly, accommodating, and the food was amazing. They do have a cute little patio to sit at where you can keep an eye on the passers-by as well as all of the amazing dogs that stroll with their owners. Great place to stop for a beer or snack or meal.

“Relaxed, clean but food was poor”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, beer was cold and carbonated (a problem in too many Denver area pubs), staff was friendly and attentive, but the food is the problem, at least for what several of us ordered and came there for. Fish and chips were a big disappointment. They tasted like huge fish sticks you get out of the frozen food area in the grocery store. They were not crispy, had no resemblance to fish and chips I ever ate, were soft and had no crust. Get the macaroni and cheese as that was fine. There are other choices in the area for pubs so if you want better food avoid this place until it improves.

I also noted that this place was recommended via 5280 magazine. I never take tips from these trade magazines or from folks who don't seem to understand any restaurant other than those overpriced yuppie places.

“Not a Bad Place at All”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Not a very glowing title, but this place came recommended through the magazine 5280 and their website. I chose it for a first date and was pleasantly surprised. They don't take reservations, but even at 7pm on a Saturday we didn't have to wait before getting a booth. Simple menu with a wide variety (my vegetarian-ish date was able to order very easily) and a waiter who stopped by just enough to refill beers and not be a nuisance. Once the band showed up, though, it got much louder and more crowded, but that's not a surprise. Overall would consider returning or recommending to a friend.

“Soooo bummed!”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

So, so so so so so disappointed that Mary sold this place! Ugh. I have lived in the hood for over 10 years. My friends (in the hood too) and I used to go at least once a week. We have all stopped going. The new owners must not realize how much of an neighborhood bar this was and how we know all the owners and unfortuately talk happens.

They got rid of all the food we loved. The tuna sandwich, the steak sand, now they only serve chips with the art. dip when it used to be served with veggies and bread. If you don't think we didn't notice...you are wrong. The music used to be great. Where is Laura Newman!!!? Where is our fav bartender Drew!!? We are greatly saddened. My boyfriend that taught guitar at what used to be Silver Eagle (was beside Mead st back in the day) is heart broken. He has fond memories of the old Mead and Mary.

“Poor New Ownership”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

The new owner has changed the menu and in an attempt to simplify has eliminated some of the best items. They used to have amazing ribs and as of our last visit, the ribs are no longer available. The portions also seem to be smaller. Don't think the customer doesn't notice.

The music used to be more diverse with jazz, rock, bluegrass, roots and singer/songwriter styles. Now the music is mostly boring loud jam bands. The place has become like every other lame Denver bar - no character.

The location is amazing, in the Highland Square, but what a shame to not incorporated more of the neighborhood charm.

This place seems to be a copy of the other "younger crowd" bars in the area.
