Stopped in for a quick meal on a Monday night ca. 7 pm. Ordered Palm heart/avocado salad, ok but nothing special considering the price tag and its miniscule portion. Fries which arrived cold, sale and loaded with raw garlic "sauce". My husband had the beef "rope" platter served with also cold and stale plantain chips. Waitress never came to ask how our food was so when presented with the bill, we asked if the fries were supposed to be cold and stale. She said no, they were supposed to be hot. News to us. She asked if she could bring us something else. Goodness, please NO! They merit one star because they took the fries off the bill and waitress said she would inform manager but we'll never go back. There are too many decent eateries in Denver to go back to such a careless kitchen. For the life of us, we cannot account for their popularity.

If you are looking for an informal, island-like evening meal, this is your place! We had a small group for dinner and the appetizers and main course was excellent. Taste was authentic and there is a good variety of menu offerings. There are just two footnotes I would add. If you eat inside (vs. patio), it is very loud and it was difficult to hear the person across the table. The other comment is that they have plenty of friendly servers, but the meal took unusually long to prepare. Not sure if the kitchen is understaffed or too small, but keep that in mind. Overall though I would encourage a visit to this fine eatery!

Cuba Cuba, in an old house near the Colorado Capitol in Denver, provides unassuming, straightforward, and delicious Cuban-flavored dishes and drinks (think mojito). The empanadita appetizers are classic Cubano as are the plaintain chips. Our party had the camarones (on mashed potatos!) with a coconut milk sauce was ordered spicy (an option) and the paella. Both dishes were excellent, with the seafood very fresh. The chorizo in the paella was delicious. Service was excellent--very attentive and friendly but not intrusive. We ate in the main dining room, which has old-fashioned plain tables that could be typical of Havana. The atmosphere was pleasant. The restaurant was not crowded but was busy enough to keep up a good background provided by happy eaters. Drinks were great, and the bartender was very flexible in making drinks to order. Good selection of beers by the bottle, although no draft. I recommend the Brazilian black beer, which was soft and a little sweet, with very light hops. We skipped wine for once, but the wine list had some decent choices. Prices were moderate for the area, and overall a good value.

On my visit to Denver my daughter treated me to a visit at the CUBA CUBA restaurant.
Hands down this was the best cuban food I've ever had the pleasure to experience.
This restaurant is in what once was a house and is very artfully decorated.
It is just a "cool" place to sit, relax and have some excellent food.
The typical black beans with rice and pork was cooked to perfection and the shrimp were absolutely huge and quite tasty.
Try it, you'll like it!

the sandwicherias are pretty good at cuba cuba. this is a new concept for denver. that is pretty popular all over the country, sandwiches of all shapes and sizes and sorts. tortas is probably the correct word for the sandwiches produced as they are definitely cuban influennced. nicely done, the steak and chicken in particular. yummy.
