Description: Evocative of the 1960's-style steakhouses of the time, Bastien's has a truly timeless atmosphere. With its circular dining room spanning three levels, a classic piano and a high ceiling, this restaurant is the longest continuously owned eatery in the state of Colorado, with the same family behind its success for over 70 years. There is enough room to seat over 100 people to comfortably enjoy a meal or buffet and if you're looking to host a private party, the top floor of Bastien's is the ideal spot for any occasion or event. Meat lovers are well-catered for, with a range of beef tenderloin, prime rib and T-bones on offer alongside the house speciality - The succulent New York strip steak, with a sugar glaze that savours the juices and seizes the flavour.

We just had dinner at Bastien's and found the staff to be very personable, friendly and professional. Great breadsticks on the table. Water pitcher with lemon refilled promptly. Good salad, however, the steak was mediocre and the hamburger overcooked. Enjoyed the ambience, but will not revisit.

We ended up at Bastien's on a Sunday night because our first restaurant choice had a 2 hour wait. In retrospect, I wish we'd have waited at the first place.

The service was incredibly slow, despite there only being 7 customers in the entire place. For whatever reason, our waitress spent more time readying tables on the lower part of the restaurant than she did tending to the customers who were actually there.

Food was quite poor. Steaks just didn't live up to all the hype we'd heard about them, pasta was literally sitting in a pool of water, jumbo shrimp were anything but jumbo (and consisted more of batter than of shrimp), salad was almost inedible.

And the prices were WAY high. $17 for four shrimp?

All in all, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and certainly the worst in Denver.
