Description: The menus at Tamayo offer a modern interpretation of authentic Mexican food with recipes created by critically acclaimed Chef/Owner Richard Sandoval at his Maya Restaurant in New York City. Our warm decor is spectacular with amber & coral colored walls featuring exquisite artwork that includes silver encrusted toucans, silver and volcanic rock guacamole bowls & Mayan masks to keep a watchful eye over the restaurant. It has been a number of years since I visited this restaurant. I was anxious to see how the recent renovation turned out, I was certainly not disappointed. The interior is fresh, open and inviting.
The good- wonderful service, table by the window, diverse yet not overwhelming menu, great fresh quality food.
The bad- honestly, I couldn't think of anything and I'm a tough critic!
In summary- If you like contemporary Mexican utilizing the freshest of ingredients in a new way this is the place for you.

45 min wait to sit in regular dining area but tables in 'bar' area with full menu - there was no wait.

I have a difficult time paying normal prices for Mexican but the guac and plantains made it much easier!

Guacamole very good! Also had cheese appetizer- could have skipped - very good but kind of heavy.

Had tacos for dinner. Brisket had smokey flavor - they were not tough (which can be a difficult task w. brisket) Not my style but my husband loved them!

Potatoes were a good side option.

Plantains were delicious. Order them as a dessert instead of a side but definitely save room!

Waitress did not split our check but when I asked her if she would she was super nice about it and worked with us to figure things out!

Great apps at the bar just stopped for a couple margaritas and a quick bite. Service was very good and the margaritas were great.
