“Acoustics are fantastic”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We just saw Jim Gaffigan and sat in the 4th row. Very nice theater. It was beautiful and easy to get in and out even in this large crowd. The ushers were all over it! They showed every person where their seats were so there was no guessing in our first time visit.

“Fantastic Performing Arts Venue”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

We went to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House to see a show recently. The seats were comfortable, the acoustics were excellent, and the show was outstanding.

“Visually Nice, But Incredibly Expensive for Working People”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is a collection or hub of theaters and galleries where everything from ballet performances and plays are performed daily. The area is visually impressive.

My wife and I went there a year ago for a wonderful Christmas performance, but the money we shelled out was like a punch to the groin.

However, if you are a hard-working, middle-class person who doesn't have hundreds of dollars to toss away at a moment's whim, this is going to be a scary place for you. Why scary?

Well...parking anywhere within a ten block radius cannot be had for less than $10 per hour, unless you try to park on the street, and are willing to check the meter every hour or so to make sure you don't get ticketed by the army of meter-readers lurking around every corner on their enclosed moped vehicles. And even then, you're going to have to park miles away from where you actually want to go. And at night every homeless and mentally-unstable person in Denver seems to congregate in the area, (especially near the "Green way" hiking/trail/underground tunnel area).

But to see one of these plays or ballet performances you easily need $50 or more to purchase one ticket, then you're going to need close to that same amount again to get decent parking for the night, and if you get hungry at all during a night out at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts while watching a ballet performance or play, all the nearby restaurants within walking distance are going to charge at least another fifty bucks for a meal (if not more). So...unless you have a few hundred bucks to toss out on a whim for a night out on the town so to speak...this is not some place accessible to most Denver residents who work day-to-day jobs in my humble estimation.

Considering the rising unemployment rate in Denver and the lack of new jobs being created and the poor upkeep of the City (shoddy light rail with no security of any kind and only covers a tiny portion of the city and costs half a tank of gas to take one time, poor bus service that stops after a certain hour and the fact that Denver never plows its streets in the winter), why would I have a few hundred dollars to spend on a play or ballet and a meal out?

Yes, it looks beautiful to behold. Yes they have plays and ballet there all the time. But average people can't afford to go there, and that won't change any time soon.

“Beautiful and great acoustics”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Every hall that is part of this complex is well designed and connected with an overhead cover. There is beautiful art and the seats are comfortable. Go see a show here- dance, vocal, drama, all are well presented in these venues.

“Really Awesome!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

iv'e seen two shows here "Chicago" which was so amazing!! and "Wicked" which was equally as good. The center is nice place and seats are pretty comfortable although if you buy tickets and they are cheap and say something like "Obstructed view" they mean it.
