Stunning views along the way. The nearby mountains are snow capped and beautiful. There are places to pull off for pictures. I would not recommend it if you are afraid of heights.

While in Evergreen, we decided to take a road trip. Cool that it's the highest paved road in North America. Wild flowers were in bloom. So glad we went!

This is an exciting and terrifying drive to the top! Awesome vistas all around, until you get into the clouds. Go early in the day - storms most afternoons. Temp. at the top 45 degrees in July. If you are coming from low lands, you might give it a day or two before attempting this 14,000 ft. mountain - we were affected by the altitude. You don't want to be dizzy when driving this narrow winding road.
We enjoyed it a lot and count this as a very memorable experience!

Scary drive but boy did it keep my kids engaged. There was so much to see and so much to do that not even my pickiest one had anything to complain about. AMAZING ROAD!

Everything is relative to your own personal experiences. Coming from somewhere as flat as Miami this was completely different from anything we have ever experienced and we thoroughly enjoyed it!!

The drive up is absolutely beautiful but not for the faint of heart or
those prone to car sickness as it is a steep and very windy road. My sister suffers from car sickness and was holding on for dear life and screaming the whole time she was dizzy. It made the experience that much more entertaining for us but not so much for her.Make sure the driver is up for this before you go.

Also make sure you bring warm clothes and jackets. When we started the drive up it was 95 degrees, at the top it was 30 degrees and extremely windy. We were freezing but managed to take a few pictures at the top that came out beautifully thanks to the amazing views. We even got to see a heard of mountain goats right near the side of the road. This is truly a unique experience that showcases Colorado's beauty. I would highly recommend it!
