In Colorado bicyclists believe they have the right-of-way over pedestrians. While mororists must yield at least 3' of clearence to bikes, bicyclists have no such responsibility to pedestrians. Bicyclists seem to consider pedestrians to be slolom flags at best and more typicaly as just a nusence. The high rate of speed, pack mentality, and disregard for the convience and safety of others make travel on this or any other so called "multiple use" trail a less than enjoyable experience.o

The greater Denver area has lots of paved bicycle paths thru greenways (typically following a creek). The Cherry Creek Bike Trail is one of the longest. It is downhill all the way from Cherry Creek Reservoir to Confluence Park. About 95% of this trail is thru a greenway beside the creek, with only a mile or so on City sidewalks. We take our bikes on the metro light rail out to the reservoir and ride back downtown. At Confluence Park, we can watch all the people sunbathing, jogging, walking dogs, or kayaking in the South Platte River from the Starbucks deck at REI.

As a runner, I've tried to run in a lot of downtown areas. Despite the altitude, I found the Cherry Creek bike path to be one of the best downtown running locations. At the north, and most crowded end, the runners/walkers and cyclists are separated, so you never feel you might get in an accident with a bike.

I love renting a bike from the B-cycle station and riding it along Cherry Creek. It's an entirely different way to see the city, and it's so calm and soothing (especially at night).

It would be better with out the crowds on nice days but honestly, it is great to be able to traverse busy part of the city without constantly stopping for every road. Smoother on the bike path except for dodging people, pets who are enjoying a stroll. But don't let that deter you from a ride.
