Description: Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in. Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own. At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

We visited with friends on a busy Friday night, but it seems all nights are busy here. Creative cocktails and good beer and wine lists. The food is outstanding. Special of the night was paella which was loaded with many different kinds of seafood and creatively prepared. The gnocchi was also very good.

Portions are not huge but are fairly priced. Noisy because it is busy, but not to the level that we found it distracting. We highly recommend.

“Tasty, good variety, interesting flavors”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Six of us went to Root Down for dinner. We ordered a variety of appetizers and then some entrees. Everybody tasted everything and we all thought this was a great restaurant. The veggies were seasonal and tasty. PEI mussels in red curry sauce were a big hit! The steak was perfectly prepared and the sides were yummy. Duck tacos were delightful. Both soups were tasty. There was a good selection of wines by the glass, diverse enough to keep all of us happy. Service was skilled, friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. There was no way we could get to dessert, so I guess we'll have to go back. And then we'll return again.

A treat for the senses and taste buds!!!
I have been to Root Down 4 times and without a hitch have had outstanding service and wonderful food!!
You can not train staff to perform this level of excellence without hiring the 'right' people.
The food is always outstanding and fresh and a tip of my hat to those on the line.

“You Can't Train This Type of Excellent Service!”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

I went to Root Down with my husband to meet some friends for happy hour. We were greeted very warmly and genuinly by the hostess. She pointed us to the bar area and said it was open seating and not to worry about going up to the bar if it was too crowded because there were waitresses on the floor to take orders. She wasn't kidding-within 1 min there was a waitress there to take our order. It was a beautiful night out so we decided to hang out on their patio to wait for a table to open. While waiting, we were asked by at least 3 waitstaff how we were doing and they were all super nice and you could tell they loved working there. The food was great, too! All in all we would hands down go there again. Great food, atmosophere and most importantly customer service. They will do anything you need and most cases you won't even have to ask because they are already anticipating your needs and will do it before you ask! One thing that sticks out is that it was 6:30 on the dot when happy hour ended and we were hoping to get one more round, just as someone was going to go to the bar a waitress came over and asked us if we wanted more drinks for the happy hour price. Most places, as soon as happy hour is over, will not budge! They don't let a few extra minutes take the happy out of happy hour, they are all about the customer!
