This is the home of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo. It has a great view of downtown as well as great areas to walk or run.

I grew up in Park Hill not far from here, so spent a lot of my free time as a boy here. There is a lake with a bandstand and a neat fountain. There are a few other smaller fountains and statues, the Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo, a world class operation.

This is a delightful park, with a large lake. It is a fun place to walk in Denver, and the Natural History Museum and the Zoo are located at this site too.

My favorite part of this park is the Jazz in the Park that happens every summer. You go there and have a picnic, maybe bring some beer or wine in plastic containers, have dinner, and listen to some free jazz. Familys welcome. The park is huge so some people are BBQing, playing frisbee, or just dancing and listening to music.

City park has always been important to my family-we visited often, and would take a picnic lunch then visit either the museum or zoo. While those 2 facilities have been improved, sadly the park overall is in decline. You cannot picnic in peace any more-there are too many boom boxes playing loud music. There are gang-bangers who menace others trying to use the park. There was even a gang-related shooting of a police officer there during a jazz festival last summer. Until the park is safe for everyone to use again, I can't recommend it.
