Museum serves as great venue for special events. Booked private parties can enjoy nicely catered functions in the great hall and then wander through exhibits that are held open for this.

One of our favorite exhibits at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is the archeological dig area. In this area, they have displayed the fossils our sons found in Aurora about 16 years ago. We also enjoy the exhibits very much. Our favorite was the Titanic exhibit. This is definitely a fun family outing! I would be remiss if I did not mention the IMax theater. Wow! It is an absolutely incredible experience! A must see!

We are members and naturally see the special events like the recent Pompei travelling exhibit. As I didn't need to see it twice, I went off to look at the stuffed animals in their detailed diaramas. I was startled with their reality! much larger than you see on TV! A 300 lb grisley is a sight to behold when you are standing 6 feet away. They are very low tech exhibit naturally, but don't miss them--it is a wonderful display of animals--and plants-in different regions of the world. Also, not a lot of sniffly children running around-they are in the science interaction sections.

Only got to see the Pompeii exhibit, really, but it was great for adults and kids alike! On other trips we've seen the dinosaurs, etc... Just FYI, if you get in free to the museum because you are a member at another Science museum, you still have to pay full price for the special exhibits like Pompeii.

So much to do and see, this could easily be an all day adventure for kids and grown up alike. And they allow you to bring in your own food for a picnic, which makes it cost effective as well.
