We went here for the Pompeii exhibit which advertises the frescoes from the ruin. Actually, the exhibit only has half a dozen, and about that many authentic artifacts. The rest is just hype. It was the last rooms of the exhibit that decided us on not visiting any other part of the museum.
Reconstructions of bodies burned when Vesuvius erupted in ancient times were in the final room of the exhibit. We felt that this was entirely inappropriate as the museum is really for children. We observed children of 7 or 8 visibly upset, and one parent decided to exit quickly.
Lockers were dirty. Signage is terribly confusing. There are no bathrooms in this exhibit. Docents at the entrance, however, were helpful.
Take your kids to the Denver Art Museum instead.
