This is the worst zoo I have ever visited. Not well maintained. The animals kept their distance and the BIG attraction (elephants) was just a perk to get people into the part. 3 elephants, in different locations and too far away to really enjoy. A super big disappointment. Don't waste your time.

Went to the Zoo on Memorial Day right when it opened to a bigger than expected line. Nonetheless, it moved very quickly, and we got it to having fun. It's nice to see all of the shows posted at the door as you walk in so we could plan our route accordingly.

There were definitely some really cool exotic animals and plenty of places to take a break. All of the kids around seemed to really love it. Certainly the best Zoo I have been to!

Make sure you do get a map though because all of the winding paths can get kind of confusing.

This zoo turned my thinking around about zoo's; DZ is about conservation, preservation, and innovation! Well trained volunteers and a very knowledgeable and hard working staff provide a fun, educational and comfortable experience for adults and kids to view animals, some of whom are on the endagered species list! The new Elepehant Passage is not to be missed!

While the Zoo has been a stable and worthy urban facilty for decades, the brand-new (June 1, 2012 opening) Asian Elephant Passage adds a 10-acre natural setting style exhibit that features 4 elephants, (will have) 4 Clouded Leopards, monkeys, 2 one-horned rhinoceros, otters and others to be added. Instead of cages, the animals have more natural areas -- the elephants even have a dramatic bridge allowing them to wander to different corners while visitors stand (safely) in the middle areas. Certainly worth a visit, or revisit for anyone interested in wild animals. The traditional zoo areas continue to be open along side the new feature. A $10 surcharge is required during the opening period.

My wife and i are Denver Zoological Foundation Members, this is an annual donation you can make to the Zoo that among other benefit's allows you free entrance for your family and even a guest. That being said, the ability to frequent the Zoo is a great blessing. We have always been impressed with the knowledge and social nature of the staff. They are always willing to take the time to share each animals personal stories and history. Their willingness to share has made each visit unique and memorable as we feel more and more of a connection to this wonderful part of the city. The exhibits are well maintained, and the grounds kept clean! I highly recommend a visit to both locals and vacationers alike!! But if there is any time that you simply MUST make a visit it is in December for the Zoo Lights Festival!!! Live carolers, ice sculptors, amazing light shows and don't forget the animals!!!
I always love my visits to the Zoo and i know you will to!!!!
