Beautifully renovated property and the staff really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure they meet every little need! Great downtown location, easy walking to landmarks and restaurants too.

This hotel is conveniently located in downtown. It is part of the Kimpton family of boutique, quirky hotels that allow pets and has happy hour every night at 5.

The rooms are clean and spacious and the bathrooms are pristine and well apportioned with Aveda products, robes and a nice mini bar. Staff have all been friendly and the lobby is subtle but not too dark.

I have not yet tried the restaurant attached, Panzano, Northern Italian in design, but I will for Sunday brunch and have heard other guests complimenting the food. The fitness room is nicely outfitted for cardio, with a good number of treadmills and elliptical machines. The free weights are sparse with just dumbbells and not real resistance machines.

The rooms are set up nicely for NEWER i devices with lighting charging stations on the clockstand and all the desk, light fixtures and power bars with USB port charging.

I have two criticisms that prevent me from giving this hotel my usual Kimpton "5"

First, the rooms are DARK and the lighting is DIM. Even with shades drawn, the north side of the hotel abuts a parking structure and no real natural light filters in. The walls are pale grey and the carpet similar. If you drop something under the desk, you better have your cell phone light or you may never find it. Second, in some of the bathrooms, the inset "shelf" for bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash is cantilevered slightly slope DOWN at the lip. When the shelf is wet, the bottles freely SLIP OFF and fall about 5 feet. If you are showering, it could easily break a toe and if taking a bath (yes, the tubs are clean enough and large enough) it could hit your head! I brought this to the management's attention and have suggested they place a non slip apd under the bottles. Some later reviewer can see if that happens?

There are bikes available to cruise the city and it is near the 16th Street marketplace area and within a nice walk (a mile or so) from the Platte river and Pepsi stadium.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing Champa street for more light

If you are visiting Denver, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco is the place to stay! We recently moved to Denver & have stayed here a couple times during the transition. The hotel has the best customer service, beds & pillows are amazing & the added plus is that they are pet friendly We will definitely search for Kimpton Hotels to stay at for all of our future vacations.

We LOVE Kimpton proprieties and find they each have their own unique character. My husband and I did a staycation here on our recent anniversary and were pleasantly surprised and appreciative when they offered us an upgrade to a suite. The front desk staff was welcoming and lovely. The rooms were spacious and modern. One concern was that the carpet was wet (saturated) and we were not comfortable walking on it without shoes. The bathroom while modern had large scratches on the grey pocket door and the grout was filled with "dirt". The decor was VERY dark with poor lighting. The color scheme was dark grey and this added to the poorly lite space...almost had a gothic feel.Unfortunately our A/C was not working to capacity and we were so uncomfortable we were unable to sleep! A call to the front desk came with an offer to bring up a fan. Given the size of the room and high ceilings a fan would be useless... so we remained uncomfortable for the duration. We also wanted a room with a view and unfortunately our view was a concrete area loaded with construction supplies! Such a disappointment. We did eat in their award winning Italian restaurant and found that disappointing as well. The staff was hurried and unfocused. We waited at our table for almost 15 minutes before a greeted and service was slow despite the fact that it was not particularly busy. Meal was good but not outstanding and it was cold upon arrival. There are many choices to stay in Denver, including another Kimpton and I think next time we will stay elsewhere.

k s,

Thank you for being so loyal to the Kimpton brand and celebrating the special occasion in one of our beautifully remolded rooms. As downtown Denver continues to grow, so does the action around the hotel. We are always happy to hear that the team went above and beyond to try and make the day special for you yet sorry that a few of the other touch points did not meet the standard. We will look into these items as we are always seeking improvement. Please don't make this your last Monaco Denver visit, we hope to see you again for an even better stay. All the best!
