We visited the branch on Federal as we needed to print boarding passes. Staff were very helpful in setting up a temporary account so that we could go about our business.

It's really too bad that what could be a great library resembles a Homeless Shelter.
It's not uncommon to see individuals bathing in the bathrooms, or patrons surfing for porn in the 4th floor computer area.
The idea of "Quiet" in this library is a foreign concept. It's not uncommon for people to be talking loudly on their cell phones, oblivious of those around them.
Another foreign concept at this facility is "Consideration of others".

The DPL, with the Broadway as its flagship, is an excellent library. It has a first-rate collection of books, both bound and ebooks, movies, and music. By logging online you can get anything from anywhere sent to your closest library. They have an exceptional computer lab and the staff are the friendliest, most knowledgeable around.

A lot of people on this site are unhappy that the homeless are allowed here. I'm curious - would they have the security guards validate a visitor's living situation before being allowed in? Yes, there are homeless here, especially in the winter. Typically, however, the patrons of a library are educated and intelligent, and most are quite compassionate, therefore most patrons are not quite so snooty as to deprive the homeless of a place to hang in peace and quiet for a few hours.

Also, people are unhappy about the parking which is baffling; there is a perfectly fine parking garage shared by the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum; it's spacious and cheaper than parking on the street. It's downtown; if people want to park for free downtownb, they need to contact their city council representatives and petition that on the next general election.

The DPL is a really wonderful addition to the cultural life of Denver!

PS.Check out the Colorado artwork collection on the 7th floor; not to be missed!

Best genealogy collection. Love to browse thru the Library. Helpful staff. Great location downtown. Apply for a card online and pick it up inside the Library.

I love our library system in Denver. We have beautiful buildings, chock full of books, with helpful, friendly librarians. We have some wonderful programming when we get funding, stuff that really entertains and educates. I love that we can download Ebooks, too. The Children's Pavilion at the downtown location is gorgeous. My kids beg to come to the library, and I'm so happy to oblige. It makes a perfect stop after Free Day at the neighboring Denver Art Museum (also a must-see!). Love it!
