“Welcoming public library”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2011

The Denver public library is worth a stop if you are visiting the art museum or state capital. The Michael Graves designed post-modern façade on the south side is intimidating; while the library interior is warm and welcoming. There is a great little art gallery on the 5th floor at the elevators, it had an exhibit on telephones when I went. Also on that floor is the fantastic Western history Reading Room. Take the escalators and stroll through the first four levels to observe the great public spaces, and especially take in Schlessman Hall and the Media room on the first floor. It’s free and worth a quick visit.

“Historical Elegance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2011

Probably the most beautiful public library in the west. Original art - please view the astounding Bierstadt - pioneer artifacts and educational displays. Go there on your way to the Art Museum and other attractions in the Civic Center Plaza. Near the Denver Mint.

“Nice Library”

The main Denver Public Library is a great building, has an extensive selection of books and videos (no DVDs, however). They have a number of great events throughout the year.
