“Not a bad place to have a conference”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

I agree that the place has gotten seedier over the years (this was my 3rd time there.) but it is till a decent place to walk and eat with a lot of choices. I did not see "dive-looking bars" at least along 16th street. The art museum itself is worth a look if you are interested in modern art; it also has a good collection of Native American and Wester art. Sure, the place is not spotless but for one used to big cities it is not awful and better than deserted downtowns (my home town of Rochester, NY; Tampa and Cincinnati for example.) It may have limited interest for families with children, although the museum has kid programs.

“Larimar Square is Tops”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

In Lodo, make sure you step off 16th St. and head to Larimar
Square, a very cute street with fabulous eateries and boutiques.
The Market, is a great place for lunch or coffee, worth a browse
around too...the chocolate choices are extravagant. The Square
is the oldest in Denver and renovated with precision...meaning
it is authentic.

We planned to spend a week's vacation staying in LoDo , Lower Downtown Denver, and bicycling around the city. On arrival, we found many stores deserted and boarded up, freaky-looking young people walking around with liquor bottles, and a lot of dive-looking bars. Downtown Denver is not what it once was. We got out of town fast and suggest you avoid this area, too.

“Beautiful place for an evening stroll”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

We spent an evening strolling through the LoDo area and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. There's plenty of restaurants and bars to stop in to along the way. The streets are really clean, we didn't see any rubbish at all and all the shops and restaurants look very pretty.

“Typical downtown area”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We vacationed for 4 days in the city of Denver and attended a Grace Potter & the Nocturnals concert at Red Rocks (which was FABULOUS!). We stayed in the City Center at a hotel near the 16th St Mall. We visited Lodo twice. The first time we walked up 19th Street to our hotel about 8:30 in the evening. It was still light outside but the creeps were begining to emerge from the shadows. Even had one well dressed man stop and ask us for money for 'a macdonalds'. Stated he'd just gotten out of jail and was hungry...huh? Just be aware of your surroundings and I'd advise to travel in groups.
