We just finished a seven night stay at high lonesome; we are a family of five with three kids ages 13, 15 and 17. The ranch is awesome! The staff is over the top friendly and makes you feel like family. We spent a day and half horseback riding and the wranglers were great. Very knowledgable about horses as well as the ranch and the history of the area. We spent a day shooting sporting clays and fly fishing with two very patient and incredibly knowledgable guides; all family members were able to hit at least two targets and catch at least one fish. We also spent a half day shooting archery and our guides patience continued as they provided helpful instruction that was not overwhelming. The ranch gave us use of a truck as well as a golf cart (the kids loved this) to move around the ranch to our various activities - amazing. The food is outstanding and prepared like an upscale NYC restaurant; Aunt Linda's breakfast are the best we have ever had. We had a totally customized experience that was tailored to our interests and provided sufficient down time for the kids to recharge. The accommodations are very nice and comfortable. The only consideration is the heat: western Colorado is high desert and temps can get up to 100 although with no humidity the comfort level is better than the east coast at 85. If you have ever thought about a different experience with your family I would strongly recommend and encourage you to visit HLR.
